Without starting a pro's vs con's fight, a major reason i've never ran one on my own vehicle(s) is due to winter time.

As noted above, water/condensation is a major component these cans will take in when the temperature drops and if some ice plugs the inlet or outlet or otherwise restricts the vacuum pulled on the crankcase, you could very quickly have a lot of oil leaks.

Some days I envy your comparably temperate climate... stock pcv's even freeze on stock vehicles and cause issues. I believe it was chevy's 1.8L non-turbocharged engine in the cruze/trax that we had to installed a heated pcv system or it would freeze and smoke out the neighbourhood or freeze and blow out every seal on the engine.

I check it once a week same time I check the oil and it has gone through 2 Michigan winters without a hitch as far as freezing goes. That said, mine is located inside bolted to the strut tower about 8" from the engine so even in winter it stays thawed. I think the key is keeping an eye on it and never letting it fill up to the point water backs up in the top of it where the oil separator is. It won't catch the water if it doesn't stay cool enough to condense it though. My point is you can't put one on and not keep your eye on it.
