EVs are about to get their reckoning. States have figured out that road taxes are levied via fuel taxes, but that’s not the case with EVs. So, current thought process is to take average mileage (12K) and directly tax EV owners for $600/year for road use. I’m sure more discoveries are in store.
I’m thinking next truck will be a resto-mod. Something old with modern/upgrade internals. The cost/market seems to put that at around 45-80K (build/built) which is comparable to new prices.

Hybrid is the way to go. We pay for fuel. Just not as much of it

Hybrids have their place. Always loved Honda’s and Toyota’s. But they’re useless for road junkies. Their intrinsic efficiency is in traffic/stop and go city. All that goes right out the window on travels. Your vehicle was built for that niche where economy was applied to all aspects. This was the same course Honda originally went with the insight. They applied it to civics and threw abandon when Accord and above where the moniker sold turds. They’re getting better at polishing them now though.

"Happy Endings"? Is that why she only allows you into the garage? Garages don't usually have carpets.
