I wonder if the 2" Lift would have avoided all that. I still have my oem mudflaps, without rubbing nor needed to chop/dremel. It may have been the excellent alignment I had done after the Lift, at my reputable garage, that I have been using for years.

It is possible, but my understanding has always been that the lift won't significantly change fitment when stuffed since it is only wheel travel that changes. The trimming was so minor it seemed worth it to avoid any rubbing issues off-road all together. Alignment on the other hand could be the bigger factor since I am still on stock UCAs and I am swapping those out when my Dobinson's lift arrives.

I wish someone made SL, or lighter versions of the pizza cutters. Anything over 40lbs per tire, is no bueno for me. Ski

    That’s what I’m thinking about.
The 285/75/17 can be had lighter but a little shorter.
Not sure the extra height and weight is worth it for a daily driver.

I wish Duratracs made them in that size and as a C Load tire, like the awesome 265/76/16 A/Ts I previously had.

I'm on stock UCAs, my rims are +4 Offset, with oem mudflaps, so it must have been the alignment.

I was thinking about getting 285/70/17's, but now I think I may go with the pizza cutters after reading this thread. I have a 2/1 lift with 17x8.5 0 offset wheels. Sounds like I should be alright. taco4.jpg

You may need to trim/mold some plastic you may not. Seems pretty truck dependent but odds are you wont need any chop.

Ok, sort of a specific question. Anyone here with a 3rd gen with Icon tubular UCAs and 17" sema wheels (PTR20-35110-XX) running 255/80r17s? If so, any rubbing and where?

My 265/70r17s are getting worn and I am debating whether I should go to 255/75r17 or 255/80r17. My tires currently are about 30.25" diameter and when I turn the wheels all the way, I have about 1.5" of clearance between the tire and the cab mount (I've got lots of room up front). Toyo says the 255/80 Open Country ATIII is 33.1" so that's a 1.425" larger radius than my current tires (~1.425" closer to the cab mount). That's cutting it real close. 255/75r17 should fit just fine but if I can I would rather try and fit the 255/80r17. I am not sure what my caster is set at but I am worried that with the Icon UCAs I won't be able to move the wheel forward any more by adjusting caster.

Used to have 255/85r16 ST Maxx on my factory OR wheels. Got tired of them pulling right so I went down to 265/75r16s.
Just went back up to the 255/80R17s on 4Runner wheels. Went with the Open Country RT Trails. They're just about the lightest ones I could find. I believe their website puts them at 52 lbs.

25/80/17 wildpeaks at3w are also 52 pounds each.

I run them and absolutely love them. My next set will be the same.

Hey DT, ya I got the R13 satin rim. 17" +4 offset, on 255/80/17 AT3 Wildpeaks.

Soon after I bought them, Wildpeaks came out with a 255/85/16 AT4. Had I known they were coming, I would have stuck with my oem 16" rims

Anywho, great quality rims, comes with the centre caps, just no TRD sticker, which I bough off of Ebay.

How’s the clearance at the rear of the wheel? I rub the cab mount when turning into an upsloped driveway and don’t have any room for mudflaps which I need for all the sand on the roads in winter. This is with a 3” lift and adjustable control arms as well. 0 offset on current rims.

No rubbing, oem mudflaps. 2" Blstein 5100s, oem UCA.

Wheelwells do fill up with snow/ice in the winter, but so did my 32" 265/75/16 Duratracs.

Considering the reasons I’m thinking about new rims. I’m looking for opinions from others weather or not it’s worth going from 0 offset to +5 to solve my runbing issues at the rear of the front tires. Will it make enough difference to be able to add mudflaps and stop rubbing the cab mount? Current rims in photo and thinking of switching to the replica 213 mentioned above.
    TIA
