    Hey Y’all,

I bought a 4th Gen Tacoma with 6k miles. Original owner still has his account in settings but its requiring a passcode to access (I obviously don’t know the passcode). I am able to access CarPlay fully with my phone and all that which is great but when setting up the Toyota app on my phone and entering in the vin, nothing is appearing on my head unit to sync to my new vehicle (i.e. QR Code or passcode to enter on my phone).

Has anyone encountered this issue and is there a way to wipe or fix it? Wondering if it’s something my local dealer could master reset?

TIA and apologies if this is explained elsewhere.

Pretty sure you can call toyota to have it reset. Maybe even the sos button can help. Take a look at the manual and see if the contact number is there.

No clue about the necessity of this, but I'd use the SOS feature first. That establishes that you are in fact sitting in the very vehicle in question because they can look at the VIN as it comes across from all of the spyware in the truck.

UPDATE: After calling Toyota direct trying to remove the primary driver (old owner) and syncing my Toyota mobile app, we were unsuccessful.
Called my local dealer and they were able to enter the VIN in their system and completely wipe my multimedia settings to factory standard. I was then able to start from scratch and successfully sync my profile as the primary driver and with my phone!

Thank you everyone who commented and I hope this helps anyone dealing with this roadblock in the future!

Baja Design Squadron Sport LED lighting . Factory made, backup light kit. operated from stock wiring plug and play through trailer hitch connection.
The first few weeks when after I received my truck, I had a security specialist from the Texas location ‘brand management” reset my whole head unit remotely. Then I could re-enter information again to sync my information with the truck. It was a security issue because of entering my information manually too many times…? FYI
