Hey at 30% off it's only a $91 trash can, that seems downright reasonable by comparison.

For being stainless steel, yeah absolutely worth it.

Should see the pricing on raw, 18 gauge stainless 4' x 8'.

But I don't need an SS can :spending:

A stripped bolt can turn an hour job into several

The damn bracket on the coolant pipe is in a way where it prevents a socket from fully seating, so the nut was already slightly stripped :annoyed:

    20241127_111009.jpg

Extractor won't grab it, so I'm rethinking before going back at it and yeah I used a small pry bar to try to open up the gap a bit

Think I'll go at it from underneath

Going from underneath I still can't get enough bite even pushing it to the bolt.

What say you @Speedytech7 I hate dealing with stripped, hard to reach, super shallow bolts.

I'm going to give myself more room and pull the radiator shroud and fan clutch to see if it helps since the bolt is directly behind the center of the fan clutch.

I have some smaller sockets that I've bumped against the belt sander to take off the chamferred portion so that they bite on the shallow bolts better

I'll try that since my fan clutch nut rounded itself even with the full engagement I had :anonymous:

Confirmed they're not reverse thread, nope they're just damn nearly siezed on

Yeah I'm gonna sacrifice a socket or two in a bit.

Just need to grab something to eat and not go at it angry; I don't care about having to replace hardware. It's just getting to it in such a tight space.

    This bracket placement is ridiculous

    20241127_120326.jpg

Job itself is easy, even got the timing cover bolts loosened.

The pipe and bracket need to be unbolted to pull back the line far enough to get it off the stud the cam shaft position sensor is bolted to.

that is a good wisdom. stopping to eat and tackle it with a clear head can pay dividends on the outcome

that is a tricky placement, definitely not one of Toyotas best lol

Yeah I'm gonna chill for the rest of the day.

Reached out to my buddy to see if he's got any other tools to grab those bolts. Also, soaked them in penetrating fluid and figured I'll go at it tomorrow after letting them soak for a bit.

Helps having another vehicle, but it sucks that a simple stripped bolt stops you in your tracks. Sensor arrived early so I wanted to get it swapped right away.

Maybe something like this. So it can bite into it. Works great on pipe so i dont see why not on a rounded bolt

I got it off; my tekton black oxide socket bit it well enough

Seemed to be tighter than my craftsman and milwaukee sockets; fucking finally

    @Sperrunner

I ordered Wera Joker 12mm and 10mm wrenches in the event that they help in situations like this (with my fan clutch bolts)
