Does the big 14 inch screen dim properly at night while using CarPlay since it's mounted so high on the dash? I've always found CarPlay to be a little bright at night.

I don't use Carplay. I run it Dark mode day and night. Love it.

I guess I need to enable CarPlay and see what all the fuss is about.

I love my big flatsceen in-dash T.V. ,LOL.
My sons said the new tacomas look like they were pulled right out of the Cyberpunk 2077 video game. Never thought about it till they brought it up. It definitely looks like the toyota designers were playing Cyberpunk 2077 when they were designing this truck, LOL.

Grainy ass image from the rearview camera that looks like a bigfoot sighting video. If bigfoot was really he would have been ran over and killed by a distracted driver looking at their 14" touch screen while using carplay.

Do you own a 2024 or are you still driving your 2012 Tacoma?

It's all relative. The reason I bought a 3rd gen initially was because of the large screen in the new Tacoma's. The screens don't bother me personally but what does bother me is when they are just mounted on the dash like an afterthought and not flush mounted. The Frontier's screen, albeit lame, is flush mounted and looks proper. The new Tacoma infotainment should also be flush mounted but once again, it is a dick swinging contest between the manufacturers at this point. In ten years there will be no dash but only a giant 6x6 screen!

I find the 14" screen handy as hell with onXmaps up and running when cruising the two-tracks in the middle of Idaho. It helps.

It's also handy with the Premium package's cameras to see what the frick is under the truck and along the sides.

I'm damn glad I didn't opt for the 8" screen. The 14" screen is great tool. Probably not needed for mall crawling.

Jeep guys just stick their head out where the door would be.

The camera imagery is pretty clear there.

One of the biggest reasons I switched from my Tundra back to a new Tacoma was the 14” screen and wireless car play. Also the torque power curve was more important to me. Getting old and can’t see shit on little screens .

Have you seen the dash on the 2025 Expedition? It's an odd design and I'm guessing that odd design is to accommodate various screens infotainment, and instrument cluster. The Expedition also has a squircle steering wheel, call me a traditionalist only want round wheels. Lincoln has screens from the driver's side all the way to the passenger's side. Ram gives the passengers their own screen. All the screens remind me of the old digital taxi cab meters, something I've never wanted in my own vehicle.

    Edit

Oh and the knob for the big screen falls off across Toyota's line up.

is there an easy way to get radio access when using android auto? Why isnt there an icon button for it? It takes forever to drill down into the menu system to find the radio every single time.

I'm a Carplay guy, but isn't there a music symbol on the left side of the screen? That takes me to the radio rather quickly.

I'd like the screen to be retractable or have a park mode. It's like leaving a small electronic device on your dash for the world to see, smash your window and take it.

Would you leave a tablet on the dash? There probably isn't a big market for hot tablets, but the person breaking in doesn't care no one will buy a stolen tablet. Almost anything new you buy in 24 & 25 is going to have a screen the size of a small TV. I'd feel more secure if the screen was less noticeable from prying eyes.

Grabbing a tablet or radar detector right off the dash is different than something that bolts in and has to have trim removed to get to it.
