I'm at 58,700 and the dealership just did the 60k maintenance on my 2020 off-road... or at least they did the inspections, fluids, and tire rotation, because everything else was insanely upcharged! (northern Virginia area) As a very inexperienced mechanic, most of it was super easy to do myself...

Dealer estimates and where I ended up:
$270 for an OEM replacement battery (could've matched this for $180, but instead I got a new yellowtop for about the same price they quoted me - props to advance auto parts for free install)
$770 for front brakes and rotors (instead I upgraded to powerstop Z36 for $200 plus about 5 hours of my time - this required more effort than I was ready for)
$780 for spark plugs ($60 at advance auto parts plus 1 hr of my time (mostly removing and replacing all the shit in the way, which was a bit frustrating)
$480 for both air filters ($50 for high quality ones at advance auto parts done at the same time as spark plugs, <5minutes, though they estimated 30min in their quote)

so instead of $2300 (which included 9 hours of labor), I paid about $600 and 6 hours of my own time (I'm sure they could be faster than me!). In hindsight, I probably would've still upgraded the brakes, but had someone else do the install. I was quoted $500 by a local mechanic and so the price would have still been cheaper than the basic brake change at the dealer. Hope anyone else around this mileage does not fall for the dealer shit either - especially the battery and air filters... my 3yo could handle those. Do them yourself!

Interested to hear why the brake upgrade was so tedious. Isn't this package just rotors and pads? Obviously there's something about our brakes I don't know yet...

like I said, im an inexperienced mechanic. Jacking the truck, removing wheels, taking off old brakes and rotors, reinstalling everything - I've changed a tire before so the first 2 steps were no problem... but everything else was new to me. New tools, new knowledge, lots of time in these forums and on youtube to make sure I did it right.

Drum brakes are on the rear of our trucks, fronts are disc brakes, did the OP have the rear brakes done while also upgrading the pads and rotors on the front??

    Or did I miss something??

BTW: I just rolled over to 13K on Tuesday...

Oh I thought he mentioned he did all the brakes. The front brakes on the Tacoma is the easiest brakes I’ve ever done on any vehicle. The pads just slide right out don’t have to remove the caliper. Unless it’s time to change the rotors, of course
