Difference in Tacoma packages

What is different in the Tacoma packages, which ones offered rear lockers? And what came with the off road package? That’s unique to the others? Thanks!

 

The TRD OR is optional 4wd, has an electronic rear locker, additional traction control modes, and a 4-wheel independent electric over hydraulic brake booster. You can add lockers to other trucks (air is probably the most popular) but retrofitting the ATRAC system is not cost feasible and is extremely involved.

TRD Sport is also edit: optional 4wd, 05-08 (and supposedly some into 09) has a true LSD, something changed with that I believe in 09 so someone else will have to chime in. The Sport has a cosmetic hood scoop.

TRDs are also all SR5 trim as well I believe.

The other differences between the OR/Sport are in the factory shocks and coils, which at this point if you're buying 2nd gen will be due to be replaced if they haven't been already.

Tow package (transmission intercooler, hitch, wiring)/4wd/SR5 are also available as separate adds to any Tacoma, you'll have to look carefully at the options and/or run the VIN to see what they have/are supposed to have.

 

Not all OR, or sports are 4x4, OR package is the rear locker with 4x4 option, and Atrac. SPORT has no locker also 4x4 option no Atrac.

 

Rear locker is exclusive to TRD OffRoad and TRD Pro (2015+) models, 05-08 TRD Sport Models had a mechanical limited slip rear axle. All 09+ models have simulated limited slip using the ABS/Traction Control.
