Oxy propane is a beast, and not dangerous really

 

You can always become a rig welder

 

Maybe in the next lifetime

 

Maybe because i use it on a regular basis i don’t think air acet or oxy acet is all that unsafe.
The worse injury i ever had using oxy acet wasn’t even the fault of it, was doing a uphill braze joint in a confined space on a 3 1/8 brass check valve and some of the flux on the rob popped and landed on my check below my eye.

 

huh, I had a buddy who used it for making glass. never considered that it could be used for cutting/brazing/welding but propane is less sketchy and acet lol

 

I've never been bit by the torch and ace is safe to store anyway. But I don't torch cut much so the intense heating and longer bottle life of the oxy propane appeals more. Dunno that I'd ever use a plasma unless it was in a CNC, most things other than flat sheet steel cut cleaner and more exact with some sort of cold saw

 

I'll agree, oxyfuel doesn't feel unsafe at all as long as you take care of your shit IE your lines and torch and stuff.

Stay away from a cheap torch as the nicer ones have knobs that can't get easily bumped and turned way up suddenly.

 

I mean really even turning a cheapo torch to mach Jesus on one knob is just gonna cause it to pop and turn off or go so carburizing it isn't that hot anyway. Might make a fun soot mess tho

 

When someone behind you accidently places that bitch on full high, that loud pop can make your tinnitus act up

But yeah it's not a big deal

I just like nicer tools; the Harbor Freight one held up well
