Anyone found a good way to mount a shotgun in the truck? I was looking for an ATV style mount that I could somehow attach to the bed rails but haven’t had much luck. Something to keep it in place while bouncing around on the trail but could be quickly grabbed if needed. Security isn’t really a concern as I would take it out whenever I park the truck. I’m not looking to build some $500 lock rack system. Just a holder to keep it from getting banged around while trail riding.

If you don't want to make something custom that adapts those ATV style mounts to your rails, you could get a bedside molle panel and put a scabbard or other more readily available option on that.

Yea, that's kind of what I was thinking. Molle panels are stupidly expensive is the problem.

A cheap gun case attached to the bedside utility rails seems reasonable. You could reach over the bedside, open the clasp(s), and then your weapon is there to pick up. You could put a limiter on the hinges so it opens only to a 90* angle…

Or the old file cabinet mod!?

Do you want fast access for hunting? Like, how fast does the access need to be here?

Because I certainly would not keep a loaded weapon strapped to my truck at an angle that either shoots into the cab or at a person approaching the tailgate… and then bounce my ass down a trail.

Chuck it on the floor in the backseat? Works well for millions of people.
