I spent my early days in SoCal too. San Bernardino ripping up the Inland Empire until my Dad took us back to Delaware. Talk about a culture shock for a 14 year old.

My mom moved out to The Inland Empire not long after I joined the USAF in April 1986 at 19 years of age.

During assignment changes, I would fly to LAX to visit and then switched to Ontario Airport since she was within 5 miles.

I got stationed to Dover in 2006 and have pretty much been here since--I had a follow-on to Aviano, Italy after doing 365 to Iraq (2007-08) and came back to Dover after retiring from active duty.

My culture shocks have been unique but not at the age you were.

Hello Delaware + surrounding areas.

Welp, it's been busy times over here...for me.

I've got interior decoration to put up; I don't do outside lights on the house!

It's easier to plant a laser light projector in the grass and be done! lol

I suppose spending time on TW needs to be like my food diet...in moderation!

 

I put a few inflatables, lights and a string above the garage.

Been chilly for the third day in a row...I've used remote start (30 mins prior to leaving for work) every day this week.

 

I’m not a fan of the cold…

 

I don’t have remote start and I had to take my dog to the vet early yesterday morning so I drove the truck around first to warm it up and then came back to the house and got him so he wouldn’t have to sit in a freezing truck (he’s an old gentleman)

 

I like bundling up for it.

Ever since I got assigned to Dover in summer of 2006, I've learned to enjoy eastern winters.

Growing up in SoCal/LA, I did not get to experience this kind of wonderland.

These are a couple years old as the Mazda CX-9 is parked inside the garage.

I've since had that droop on the top of the garage fixed and the columns are also gone from the porch.

Shoveling is no fun but it has to get done before it melts into the pavement and I'll need ice skates! lol

 

After being in the Army and deployments to Iraq and Afghanistan I can’t stand the cold.

I’ve got a snowblower too when my in laws moved to a place that does it for them.

The hot topic of the morning is "remote start" with FOB.

I declined subscription but not data consent to Toyota and I'm still able to remote start with FOB.

One person who shared they declined data sharing said his remote start with FOB has stopped working.

It's a nice feature especially during the cold season like what we are experiencing now...if you don't park your truck in garage.

Anyway, I have plans tomorrow to go to the shooting range to fire my Remington 12G--got a buddy who reserved a spot.

This will be my first time going to any range here in Delaware...other than the one on base where I had to qualify on M9 & M16/M4 in 2007.

 

There was a group of guys complaining about subscriptions (mostly TV} at the gym Wednesday. They couldn't believe that auto makers were starting to charge for remote start.

I fancied French Toast this morning and prepped everything for a satisfactory breakfast.

Yesterday's Firing Range visit went well; I finally broke the Remington Shotgun in and it definitely needs to be oiled! lol

Today is a day for Christmas Shopping and visit to Trader Joe's up north.
