    Stawk as FUCK!
Just curious, did yours let go when punching the throttle? I'm wondering if the sudden snap of the throttle is what makes it break.

No, just a snap of the throttle won't activate ACIS. It depends on engine load, rpms and throttle angles.
The plate opens at 2400-2600 rpms. Here are 2 examples of Load and rpms.
this one Load is 57% at 2600. Plate closed (ACIS VSV Motor Duty)
    upload_2024-7-31_10-11-38.png

This one Load is 90 % @2600 rpms. Plate opened (ACIS VSV Motor Duty)

Hey, add another one to the list. I also did a forum pertaing to this not too long I'm currently also making a report at the NHTSA and I suggest for all that has had the same issue to follow this process so that it do become a recall. Only this way is t.hat is will be. Also I advise to have proof of any and all repairs and cost tobbe submitted with report. It is very important.

Sorry to hear that. Make sure whoever is doing that intake replacement, takes the time to check each intake runner and makes sure that little spacer isnt sitting on top of one of the intake valves.

That is not how a recall works.

Yep this happened to me, running my truck up hill or over 4000rpm would make my truck go into Limp mode, after changing spark plugs, crankshaft sensor, cat sensors etc. but didn't fix the problem. I researched more and found this page, so using this video.
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L3Su6ZhOQxs&t=1316s

I removed the intake and shook it and heard the flap rattling inside. realizing I finally found the problem.

I find mind boggling that something as small as an actuator flap can brake but can't be repaired or replaced, and one would have to purchase the whole upper intake manifold plenum that brand new will cost $900 at the dealer and $650.00 at third party sellers.

so I hope this helps anyone with this Upper Intake manifold ( Toyota 17190-0P101 ) problem.

I found a used part for $275.00 here
    https://ahparts.com/search/2016/Toyota/TACOMA/intake-329/329/adbag

    Brand new here. $614.00 here
    https://www.toyotapartsdeal.com/oem...(1=2GRFKS;4=SR5;6=6FC;7=DCB;0=GRN305L-PRTSHA)

watched this step by step video here
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L3Su6ZhOQxs&t=1316s

this costed me 314 total and the swap took me about an hour and a half. it was kinda easy, just pay attention to bolts and holes connections, other than that it wasn't too technical.

    hope this helps.

Have you done a report to the NHTSA? This will be very helpful to be reported. @ERR-Nee

I hope you checked the intake runners on the engine for that little spacer that's for the stem on the flap. It may or may not have fallen out, but in my case...it did fall out and was bouncing around on top of a valve.

@JohnnyTRD06 thanks for the heads up, I adjusted my Shop-Vac and stuck it in each valve hole to get any loose debris out, I didn't find any spacer after that. So I'm hoping I got it out, or it's still with the part. The truck is back to normal now.

If the manifolds hooped anyways, what’s the issue with cutting the plastic open, trying to repair it and then epoxying the piece cut out back in place?

$1700 Canadian new, with tax, $1900

The funny thing is I had the same issue with my Tacoma just now it sound like something was flying plus I had smoke from my exhaust. Compression was good but the fuel injectors needed to be changed.

Hate to break it to myself but, mines is flying around in my engine with the code that pops up p030085 and p030027. When I rev the engine past 45 it sounds like something is flying around and then a misfire. I hear guys have the problem and having to change direct injectors too. It was on google huy had that issue plus he had to change the direct injectors because his car is smoking rom exhaust like mines.

Dude, thanks to this post you probably saved my engine. I have been chasing this problem for months, and this thread finally helped me find the issue. I've got a new intake manifold on the way, and very glad I read your update. I checked my intake runners, and sure enough on the passenger side, on the runner closest to the front of the car there was that little bushing sitting on top of the valve. I had to remove the lower intake to get at it with a pair of tweezers, but it is out. 4 different shops, including two Toyota dealerships couldn't figure out this issue. For me, it started to manifest as a miss while driving on the highway between 2-3k rpm. Finally, it started to get worse and worse until it just would throw it into limp mode, and give me a P0303 every time I ran it at high rpm. The weird thing was this only started to happen after driving it for at least like 30 minutes to warm it up, and only under load.

    Thanks again

Has any just removed the flap or disconnected it? Other than losing a little HP, what would be the disadvantage?
