I use Fluid Film but it's not friendly on rubber/flexible parts. (CV's, brake lines, etc) How is the stuff you used on those parts?

They say it only bonds to metal, and everywhere else it will just wash off. It did not smell like too many solvents that would eat up soft bits like that, smelled more like honey with some diesel mixed in. Lots of Radio Controlled hobbyists (folks who race RC boats and drones for fun) drench their whole machines in it. I read that state fish and wildlife agencies soak their boat radios, GPS antennas, in it for waterproofing/rust prevention. saltwater boaters remove their engine cowl and spray everything underneath (equivalent of spraying the whole engine bay for outboard boat motors). Corrosion-X promotional videos show them treating the whole engine bay in a compact car. Lots of YouTubers spraying down raw circuit boards with it then operating their equipment underwater (to demonstrate that it waterproofs electronics without interference). So I'm hoping it doesn't eat up rubber, plastic and soft parts for those folks.

But I'll definitely keep an eye out and share any problems I notice.

It actually doesn’t harm those materials (they are oil resistant rubber). It will however destroy non-oil resistant rubber like door trim and seals.

    From https://www.corrosionx.com.sg/resources/materials-compatibility/
"Rubber: No visible effect on Buna-N, Viton, or Neoprene products (such as gaskets, O-rings, or seals) but slight swelling and/or softening of butyl rubber items."

It is great stuff. They fog whole planes with it so it is rather safe for most materials.

fluid film isnt petroleum based and shouldn't actually hurt any of those things. seen it sprayed every year for 15+ years on same vehicle and has hurt nothing.

I have a 2021 TRD OR with 97k miles. Over the last week I noticed the radio disconnecting/turning off sporadically. Wednesday the entire dash was lighting up Christmas tree esk when I applied the breaks occasionally. I assumed I had an electrical short or my foot was hitting a low hanging wire. A friend suggested it may be the battery(original) and bingo! I replaced the battery, problem solved. Just a heads up for those approaching 4-5 years and 100k miles on their battery.

If the ECU can throw a “I won’t start” warning when I miswire a brake light, I very much believe it can freak out when it’s isn’t getting enough battery juice. Such is the modern, computerized automobile, I guess…
