What Have You Done To Your 3rd Gen Today?

Today was new tires day.

 

I set up the Ironman 4x4 awning for the first time and am loving it so far. I also installed some Rotopax gas cans on the driver’s side, but I took them off before taking these pictures. I’m hoping to get a softopper soon

 

Upgraded my OEM front shocks to Bilstein 6112's, also upgraded to Sumo bump stops while I was down there.

 

Replaced the plastic-chrome rear bumper caps with black plastic ones.

 

I have been eyeing that but not yet convinced it is the best solution. From the little I know on the topic in modern engines crankcase venting is designed to encourage proper oil flow so I wonder if it would have any negative effects on that. Also there is normally some sort of baffle in the engine to minimize oil and vapors coming out of it and I don't know if this solution properly does that. Of course on steep inclines the current engineering totally fails at both tasks so I am sure this solution is better but it is the rest of the time I worry about. The second could be solved with an oil catch can but that kind of defeats the purpose.

How easy would it be to add and remove this kit if I wanted to just put it on when offroading?

So I have the Cali Raised MOLLE full bed system & had been running MOLLE pouches for quite a while, mostly on my driver side. With all the offroading I do, the zippers get all mucked up & I found that the MOLLE straps begin to quickly wear through & fail when they’re full of gear & subjected to bouncy rough roads. I got a few years out of the pouches so no complaints, but I’ve begun replacing them w/ small Pelican-style cases(Apache cases from Harbor Freight) bolted to the panels. Water tight, dust tight, no more sagging or strap failures. The small cases are $13/ea, roughly comparable to the price of pouches anyway.

 

got a new Badlands Apex 12k synthetic winch. My smittybilt was worn out and broken ish. harbor freight had some good deals for Black Friday. I had to mutilate my grill some more to fit the giant thing in there... anyone else's grill halfway held on with zip ties? lol

 

The control box should be relocated to the radiator support for 3rd gens.

 

Took my Tacoma beyond the wall and past the Wildlings to take in the views of the North.

Installed driver side OEM cubby and BedRug. I wanted to keep the Mountain Hatch so I installed the BedRug underneath it and I will probably need some longer screws to attach the Mountain Hatch.
