Towing

Can a TRD off road pull a 2021 Rav4 hybrid from Texas to California? Or is Uhaul correct by saying it shouldn't be done?

 

Google says a RAV4 hybrid has a curb weight of 3755lbs and U-Haul’s car hauler weighs 2210lbs. That’s pretty close to the limit for what a Tacoma is rated to tow, maybe Uhaul has a certain percentage buffer below max ratings.

Edit: This probably the reason. Based on 80% of the combined weight (5965lbs) the Tacoma must have a curb weight of 4770lbs. That’s probably higher than all but the maybe the most heavily optioned hybrids.

• Must weigh at least 3,500 lbs. (curb weight), and must equal or exceed 80% of the combined weight of the trailer (2,210 lbs.) and the vehicle being towed (up to 5,290 lbs.).
