Why isn’t the dashboard red?

Used 2022. Red and black interior. I’m wondering why the dashboard isn’t red? Was the dash swapped out? Service records are limited and no accidents have been reported.

 

Aftermarket bling parts. Door open is chrome by default, vent rings chrome, that is a replacement gear shift knob. Meso Custom sells those, but usually the most people do with a dash is a carpet-like pad on top.

 

The ones with oem red panels I’ve seen only have the door panels, your vent rings are aftermarket. It does look like you’re missing the red panel above the glove box though…
I’m sure somebody will have a definitive answer for you, but I’ve never seen a red dash. Maybe the previous owner swapped the door skins?

Is it a SR5?

 

My 2019 OR has the factory "Barcelona Red" bezel around the entire dash area, is that what you are referring to?

The Dash panel over the passenger air bag should be red to match the door cards. Mine all 3 match in grey on my 2020 SR5 so I would think they all should be the same color. Grey is the most common color but there is red and and orange like Caramel color that exists. in every interior I've seen all of these pieces matched. The Trim around the radio may likely be that silver/grey metallic. Also the Door latch pulls in the SR and SR5 were black not chrome, so if it's an SR5 those are black from the factory. Only the TRD and Limited had them in chrome.

 

Is the roll of T.P. and option for that year?

 

Looks like yours is an SR5 with the red trim like mine was. The dash panel piece should be red as well. So it was changed aftermarket (any wreck history?). It is actually the easiest of the red panels to remove and replace. It comes off with 2 screws, but the door panels are plastic welded/bonded? to the door.

I thought the red would grow on me, but in the end I hated it. Got mine (and all the seats) changed to Katzkins black on black. Soooo much better.

Any red in the interior is an automatic no for me. Especially in a vehicle like a Tacoma. I can maybe understand a sports car that’s lady driven but even then, still a no.

 

I can’t help it. I have a few Ticonderoga pencils in my truck, I’ve been known to use a binder clip for money and cards. I even have a disposable lighter in my truck. But it’s just not that chaotic. Also, where did the floor mats go? I know that truck isn’t that clean.

 

Looks like a bunch of used insulin syringes. Nothing wrong with that.

 

IIRC bright colored dash pads have a problem with reflection against the windshield

 

How did you change the door panels? And did you have to replace the entire dash? It looks great! I’m just so confused on why there is no red panel above the glovebox.
