    Anyone else experiencing this?

If I put my phone (iPhone 12) on the charger and also run maps, my phone goes super sayian and the AC vents start to produce a nice lithiumish metallic smell. The charger gets nice and hot too.

Should mention I have a M/T, so the gearbox does produce some heat, but legit feels like my phone battery is on the verge of venting.

Thinking I should probably take her into the stealership for some warranty.
But wanted to inquire here to see if anyone here has an easier fix then having a mech that doesnt give a damn start ripping apart my center console

You’ve never seen all the complaints here about how the wireless charger barely charges the phone (if it even connects to start charging) and warms the phone up significantly?

The thing sucks, best off not using it.

I actually deleted mine and swapped to the plastic cubby pocket from the base models. I much prefer that. I never used the charger to begin with (never would actually charge my phone at all), but what prompted me to do the swap was the annoying bubble in the rubber mat that eventually heaved upwards and made that an annoying place to set things. I found the angled cubby from base models to be more useful. I empty my pockets into that spot when I drive now.

Beat me to it- lots of threads on here about the pad generating heat and eventually failing or bubbling up.

I’ve never used mine, preferring the hard wired route with a charger I installed, not pretty to most probably but gets the job done.

The Apple wireless charger heats up my iPhone 13 significantly.

I opt to use the computer USB for slow charging, and the least heat generation.
My 120v powered Apple charger also heats up the phone, but not as much as the Apple wireless.

Glad I’m not the only one… I mainly use to to hold odds and ends since using it a few times feels like it’s nuking my phone!

I only used mine a few times with an iPhone 12, and it took a long time to charge it. Because of that reason I don't use it anymore, but I do remember it being a bit warm when I removed my phone.

Wireless charging generates heat. Not much you can do. Unlike your balls, your phone should have heat protection that stops charging when it gets hot.

In my 2021 Sport AT/DCSB, I use wireless charging on long-distance travels with wireless connection to the dongle...since my phone connection point stopped working when I dropped my phone at the beach.

Anyhow, I use wireless charger on my iPhone11 inside the house...which does get hot but not as hot as the wireless charger in my Sport.

That's why I put a time limit (30 mins) on my wireless charging while driving simply by turning off the charging button and keeping my phone in the cubby.

If phone needs more charging, I'll go 10 minutes in between turning it off.

The rubber platform has not warped or become wobbly due to overheating.

I've had my Sport 3 years now and the wireless charger still works and platform is not deformed.

The cheapie $15 wireless charger I have on my work desk charges quicker than the truck's without warming it up.

How’d you install the lower trim cubby there…..did you have to remove the entire lower switch panel area too?

I added the ABC and put the Q-charger switch behind all the switches and that area heats up with my old ipod sitting there….back into the dash to turn the switch off.

I have a meso LSP7 that I’d like to install.

Didn’t have to touch the lower switch panel at all. The front console half unclips from it.

Remove the upper console cover (the one that houses cupholders and shifter). Empty the console box and remove the 2 10mm head bolts securing it at the bottom.

Remove the two screws connecting the rear console half from the front console half. Remove rear console half by sliding back and lifting up. Might have to unclip some USB charging wires if equipped in the console, so don’t forget those if necessary.

Undo any remaining screws connecting the front console half to the stamped steel brackets on the floor (there might not be any, it’s different between auto and manual). Slide front console half back from dash (tug on it, it’s clipped in).

Remove wireless charger from front console half, install cubby in its place, then reinstall everything in opposite order.

I had a thread discussing all of this if interested. I hated that wireless charger and have no regrets getting rid of it. I removed the Qi switch and put a factory blank in place. My switch panel is almost completely aside from 2WD Low and the factory USB and rear window slider.
