This truck needs to go to the crusher...but it could come back like Christine!

So take the ecu with you, and burn it separately.

Im sure its probably something minor that got eff'ed up...
    compromised sensor, etc...
probably put 100 miles on it & never once cycled the key during that extensive roadtest, thats a bonehead rookie move...
Sometimes electrical issues / check engine lights dont show-up until the pcm sees the fault on atleast 3 drive cycles..
    Could have been prevented.

Guys that keep saying attorney, it would have been over by now...
My buddy & I filed about the same time.
    He had a new dodge.
He used a well known / reputable lemon law attorney.
It took that attorney 2 months to file after my friend provided all the info.
Youre not their only clients, & alot of the LL specialists dont just focus on LL stuff...
bronze did the right thing filing through toyota is painless & easy, they have their own backlogs too.
I got my refund 4 months ago from Toyota & he hasnt heard a word yet to this day....
By the way, his entire drive shaft fellout while driving from san diego to chicago, tearing-up his entire under-carriage, snapping aux ac lines, damaging the floor pan, overheated multiple times throughout his adventure etc... he has a stack on ro's...
The only thing the OP could have done better, was file sooner, but didnt know any better.
    Untill I pressed-him!!!
Theyre not jerking him around, the sky isnt falling....

& to the guy that says, they probably re-used everything, is completely clueless when it comes to automotive repairs......
Alot of you guys need to work on reading comprehension....

Sad that they didn't prioritize checking simple stuff like the cycles you mentioned with all OP has dealt with though.

    What a situation

    There’s good techs, then there’s bad techs…
For the most part, I never roadtested any of my repairs, I was that good…
Not tooting my own horn, it’s the truth…

anything could be possible in regards to his truck now, could be something simple like a bad O2 sensor like a previous poster had and his hybrid, could be a valve hanging up as valve clearances weren’t set correctly when they piece together long block from individual components…
That would require complete disassembly again, and chances are will be difficult to find, confirm, verify, etc…

True re techs but IMO a good business would double and triple check everything in this case if no other, given the time he had the truck before this issue which shouldn't have happened.

Not like the coffin needs anymore nails, but this is adding to it...
    Doesnt change anything...
Its over, dealership isnt going to give him an extra crazy deal on a new truck cuz they screwed-up along with bobbing & weaving, avoiding him & the situation inregards to sales doing anything...
Which they cant, that was all BS...
He would have to finance 2 cars...

Judging by the shutter your described , i bet it’s your transmission that failed this time. That shudder has been associated with the trans failing . Mine does the shudder too but hasn’t failed yet

I never would have taken the truck back. Fuck the dealer. Like it’s going to kill them having it sit behind their fence another week.

Toyota Master tech who told me he would have to remove the entire engine to replace the steering rack but just raised up the engine on an engine jack one or 2 inches to clear it and save me time and money.

    Absolutely nothing wrong with that…
    But what do I know…
I found easier way to do everything I did for 30 years, gotta be smarter than the engineers that are publishing the workshop manuals…
Trust me, you would rather have them remove two motor mount nuts, and raise your engine a few inches, then removing your entire engine un-necessarily and possibly compromising other shit…

The f150 2.7L, requires you to remove the entire cab to replace the engine.

i’ve done hundreds and hundreds of engine replacements/long blocks, never once pulled the cab off the frame. Didn’t even touch the cab bolts…
Pull it out the top hood opening just like any other engine,
just do something as simple as a remove the front crank pulley / “harmonic balancer” first….
    That simple…
Small transconnects required removing the entire lower subframe to replace the catalytic converter pulling it out the bottom, I take them out the top without touching the suspension / subframe at all.
A lot of oil pan gasket replacements require pulling the transmission…

    There’s 1000’s of cheats…
    Work smart, not hard,
But you need the experience & knowledge to know what way is the right way, or you will just shoot yourself in the foot and waste more time..
Need to know when to do it & when not to struggle on what may or may not turn out to be easier.

My 2010 2WD needed a new oil pan last year. I called the independent shop I use when needed. He told me the book quote for the job in total is $1500. I forget the amount of hours labour that included off my head. He then told me "but that's the most it will be" and explained that he's pretty sure that he can save a good amount of time being that I'm not a 4x4. Regardless, the truck was worth the repair and I gave him the go-ahead. Total bill was about $1100 for that plus a transmission fluid drain/fill/gasket swap. I have zero complaints.

I originally found him as a friend of my wife's family was one of the lead mechanics, but the proprietor is a very fair and honest man who will always get my business as a result, we've built a relationship through time. He was also a leading person to advocate for Right To Repair in Massachusetts..he explained to me that yes he as a businessman will be able to do more work, but as a vehicle owner himself just like the rest of us he feels it's unfair that a dealer can be the only one to do certain work.

And yes like you said, experience can teach you some of the tricks..for better or worse, but you'll know what's what.

Fords had you pulling the cab to work on the engine way before the 2.7. I remember seeing my first few thinking it was crazy. But it was pretty easy to do and saved a bunch of time. Also everyone loved working on them like that.
Obviously if you didn’t have a lift then things got a lot more interesting

    You’re probably thinking the 6,0 L diesel…
But I think, even then, my guys had them for oil leaks, you were supposed to remove the engine and they would pull the transmission out and do bed plate and oil pan reseals that route versus removing the engine..

Nope, plenty of 3.5L eco boosts and 5.0’s that they pulled the cabs off working on them. Seen it a bunch too obviously with the 2 and 350’s too.

I get that I was mentioning those two due to workshop manual actually states instructs you to…
As you stated the 5 L and the 3.5 are just techs voluntarily removing the cabs.
    Not required,
Yeah, makes things easier but a waste of time as far as I’m concerned.
If you wanted the easy life as an engine mechanic, should’ve got a job at Starbucks…:D

If the circumstances at home were different I would have left the truck there until I got my check. My 18 year old son left for the Navy in June (then 17) and this was his first leave after basic and A school to come home before being stationed on the other side of the country. We have lots to do in the week that he is home including getting him a drivers license and a rental is not in the budget. We have taken such a personal financial hit due to all this and I live on a fixed income and through all this I am still dishing out a car payment. When I got the call the the truck was finished it meant to me I can make his time at home productive and enjoyable. This is just a personal shit show for me at every turn and can't wait for it to end.
