    My thoughts exactly...

I'm going to eliminate the constriction of the bend and use 3" diameter schedule 40 PVC to run the air to the CAI Box.

Went with the AFE for the $$$. A sealed box with a dry filter shipped to my house for under $300.00

Add $25 worth of plumbing fittings from HD & I'm in business...

Now to find some time to put on the MacGuyver hat...

It's like a jigsaw puzzle where you have to make your own pieces..

    My favorite kind!

haha i know what you mean. sucks when people post dumb shit in the group buy thread and end up killing it.

I think you're right about the bend in the hose.. that's been my worry, but hey.. saves me $300 for now atleast. Thinking about getting an AeroTurbine 2525xl muffler though...

Craig that looks like a good plan.. cant wait to see it hooked up!

Had a chance to get started on this tonight...
    First step:
Cut off the oval intake port to the box. This needs to be round!

Also need to fill in this drain hole... Gotta be watertight or whats the point???

I hope to test- fit the box to get the measurement for where the flange will attach to the airbox tomorrow...
    More to come...

I dont know about you guys but my 09 was a total PITA to get this installed. Took me almost 10 hours and its still WAY OFF>. The silicone outlet pipe on the end of the snorkel trimmed never even came close, it was almost past my washer fluid res. I had to trim almost all of it off and even then I am a solid 3" higher than the actual hole for the CAI and INTAKE. Now I am considered drilling a larger intake hole as some other people have done, but I would have to make it higher and thats a no go for me.

I was hoping someone would have a better, more stable solution. My thoughts so far were to simply get a new rubber fitting from wheelers or ARB and then run a joining silicon 90* and then some exhaust pipe to fit. Any thoughts?

Yea that sounds like the way it is on our trucks. The air inlet tube comes down at a pretty serious angle to get to the hole, and in addition to trimming the air inlet piece, you should trim atleast an inch off the end of the snorkel. Boyd and Joe can definitely give you more details on this, and probably some pictures. Before you go cutting the inside of your fender, talk to them and play around with it some more

I was wondering if I was going to need to trim the end of the snorkel or not, I never did and tried to make it work but had 0 luck. I got it installed and it was a total PITA.

Is that what tacodoc did on his ? Trim the actual snorkel as well?

You got pics of how it is now? I would like to see them before commenting. My install wasn't that great, but after helping with 2 more since then I think I have it down.

Well I already have the truck back together as I needed it to drive to work. I will pull the intake off at lunch and post up then. The main issue I see was that the rubber hose goes past the intake opening by an inch and is up to high.

It's sitting to far forward like mine. No biggie.

Elongate the (5) holes back towards the rear of the truck about 1/2". I used a dremel with a stone. When doing this make sure the large hole in the front isn't past the snorkel. The hole can be slightly visible but make sure it can be sealed/covered with caulk.

Once you have it sitting farther back start trimming the oblong side of the rubber 90* fitting. Do NOT trim the round side of the rubber 90* fitting.

Then start trimming actual snorkel itself in small increments till the tube is centered in the stock intake. We have been cutting about 1-2" off.

You can get it, but know that the round rubber tube will be facing a downward angle. Nothing can be done with that except move the snorkel farther down which isn't a good option due to the body lines.

Make sure whatever you mount to it does not kink the rubber tube at the 90* angle when it's attached. You can tell if it's kinked by feeling it with your hand through the underside of the fender.

Good luck. If you have any other issues let me know. You should also throw a bead of black caulk on it when you are 100% happy with the fit of everything.

2 problems, if I move it back I will have to re-drill the a pillar. Next if I cut anything anymore other than the snorkel it self I won't have anything left.

Hey guys, so I'm finaly going to be getting mine, and well I need to start collecting parts, what is a good suitable replacement for the exhaust pipe?! And where is a good place to buy it in Canada?! (I know it's in the thread somewhere just being slightly lazy)

    Thanks guys

just use the stock air hose and a piece of 3" exhaust pipe bent in an angle like this- \__

then go to home depot and find some fernco fittings and stuff like that so you can attach the 3" exhaust pipe to the stock air hose (that has been cut just past the bulge)
The air hose will be larger than the 3" exhaust pipe, so I needed a 3" fernco fitting and a slightly smaller diameter rubber fitting to take up some space, and I used alot of silicone on that part too

Well, I finally installed the snorkel, but it's definetely not hooked up, I still gotta "fix up" the inner part of the fender in the engine bay to get it properly hooked up.

For now, snorkel is installed, and still using my URD TCAI, and since I have installed the snorkel, my truck gets waaay more looks now than it did pre-snorkel. I have yet to see a 2nd gen in the San Antonio area with a snorkel. Seen a 1st gen, but that was it. :)

Your's turned out similar to mine. Time to cut that inner fender like I did and then seal it back up with window flashing like Oswego thought of and I copied. It's the only way to not redrill or enlarge the exterior holes.

Agreed it looks good on that white with black fender's.

I get a lot of WTF looks from people. It is funny to glance over and see people trying to figure out what it is for. Some punk kids in a Honda with a coffee can exhaust were laughing at it but what do they know they have a Folger's can sticking out the back of a 4 door civic with the springs cut.
