I ordered my RokBlokz mud flaps for my Tundra today. I saved 20% by using the black friday code BFCM25

Finally got around to get my snows on today. I was pumped I didn't have to fight getting the rear wheels off and was smart this time and put anti-seize on the hub and mating surface so hopefully I won't fight them in the spring.

I'm debating if I should start planning on getting a new set of KO2s/KO3s in the spring. Mine are mid-2018 date codes, plenty of tread but they're starting to show their age. I generally maintain my tires well so we will see what sales I can find in early spring versus what the tires look like when I pull them back out of storage.

The Baofengs are pretty alright especially for the price. They're globally popular, extended batteries are easy to find, they make a lighter socket curly-cord battery replacement for tethered vehicle use, and program easily with CHIRP (https://chirpmyradio.com/projects/chirp/wiki/Home).

The uhhhhhhhhhhhh "moddable" models have all been withdrawn from the market but if you're not trying to do stuff you shouldn't be doing anyway that's not a big deal.

I have one in the truck and an extra in the travel kit in case someone in the convoy doesn't have one.

Now, what this man is talking about here is that when you buy a US sold UV5R, there is software loaded that blocks out the GMRS bands because it's not legal to use for those.

I would NEVER recommend a certain start up sequence of buttons similar to the Konami code, which resets the radio to a global firmware, where those frequencies are now available for transmission. Never, that would be silly.

To find the sequence (so that Tacomaworld didn't get hit by SEO with direct links) i would never recommend to Google "UV5R unlock" and go to the first or second reddit result that shows a video of what button sequence to use. That would be irresponsible.

(All that said, the GM-15 does actually look like a pretty sweet little radio and I might grab me one myself).

Oh, I was talking about hardware mods - last I checked, which was some time ago, they had made revisions to the boards and not just the FW.

Still possible to mod them that way but not while also maintaining the form factor, and if you can use a pile of spider soldered spaghetti wire and breakouts for your application, there are better options.
