Removal of factory remote start

Sign out doesn't revoke the remote start.. If you quit subscribing or ask Toyota to stop tracking you, then remote start will be revoked.

My '17 doesn't have remote start or any nanny crap installed. But I have GPS in head unit, I don't care.

 

I'm a bit suspect, but it's free to try.

I used the lock vehicle reminder a couple of times (in 1st yr). I was far from my truck and was able to lock it through app.

It keeps track of service reminders as well as current mileage and health of your vehicle.

I signed back into the app and gave consent to "precise location information" and "for internal research and data analysis."

Used remote start this morning...it's currently 24F.

EDIT: I'm good with no monthly payment and the consent I gave.

 

12vsolutions also makes kits (I had one on my 18, so I could remote lock/unlock). They now make one that will stay running after you open the door, allowing you to just drive away… instead of the restart as experienced with brands before. I’m not sure the years/limitations, but I opted out and use it instead.
I actually have an (18+) that does the triple start, but needs the cellular (app) module for remote start/status/lock/unlock.

 

Did this yesterday. You can even opt out of dealer contact, if you want.

 

I like it tells me if i forgot to lock it, hood open, tire pressure, gas, location, mileage ect

I'm already looking at luxury things I can go without in retirement (65); this would be one thing that would get cut off. lol

But, I've got some nice-to-have things I'm slowly dwindling down on...

I already got rid of cable (Xfinity $240/month w/HBO) and for the past year just High Speed Internet ($92/month--saved over $140).

But these streaming services seem be creeping with TV Networks to bump up costs.

Anyhow, I always go off on tangents...lol!

I'm willing to have Remote Start without Subscription.

I signed up with Walmart + last week. $49 a year. Gives me 10 cents off at Walmart, Exxon and Mobil gas stations. And Paramount (with commercials) is included. I am currently paying $13 a month for commercial free Paramount.

However you can get it!

I pay annual fee for Amazon Prime and piggy-back MAX/monthly...that's my most expensive TV charge ($139/Annual Prime & $14.99/Max monthly).

Also have Apple+ for $9.99/month.

Wife pays for Netflix and I have Paramount+ from a friend.

We've also got Hulu from the adult kids account. lol

It's piece-meal entertainment...lol!!!

 

Very glad I removed my SIM on the DCM. Toyota can no longer reach my DCM to do any re-programing to remove features on the truck. 2021 OR

 

Had the 12v solutions kit on my 17 Tacoma. Worked great

 

I finally got around to installing the app. I tried remote starting with the key fob one more time before I installed the app. It did not work. I installed the app and went out to try to remote start with key fob and it worked. Thank you, RandallTheVandal!
