Getting ready to finally replace the KUaT with a 1-up. Looks like they never go on sale.

I’m running a Magic Shine RN1500 on my helmet and am happy with it. I run the bigger Magic Shine on my handlebar, the 1500 is light enough to be on a helmet and is plenty to ride with as a stand alone if need be.

They do not. HOWEVER, I'd pay that money again in a heartbeat now that I've had one.

I've had the Blackburn Dayblazer 1000 for 3 years now. It has 5 modes, rechargeable, lightweight and has never left me in the dark. It's on sale at backcountry this weekend for $49!!

I use a Light & Motion 1200 on the bar and the dayblazer 1000 on the helmet (usually use it in "high" mode which is 500 lumen).

    Here are my suggestions;

    Should I should have got
    All in one

    Vs

    What I have
    Separate mount and light

The one good thing about the separate light and mount is that i can throw that other light on another bike or friends since it already comes with a handle bar strap. Been using my 1300XXL light coming up on 2 years now

I have a Smith Forefront 2 helmet. Smith sells a GoPro mount for this helmet ($15) that is perfect for mounting a light. The base is screwed into the helmet and the mounting bracket clips to the base. It's really easy to clip the light on and off and the base just lives on the helmet.

On a completely different subject, check out my new titanium hardware!!

    IMG_3090.jpg

I had my post-surgery check and got some neat x-rays. A plastic-ish "hubcap" (not visible on x-ray) with 9 screws. 26 days later and I still have some decent swelling and some numb areas. Doctor says everything is perfect and as it should be, so that's some good news. Two more weeks and I hopefully will start physical therapy.
This 4-Corner Fusion is no joke!! :fingerscrossed:

    not enough.
lol. "unplanned vectors". I mean, we're in ski season here in UT so biking means, "ready to freeze your ass off for mediocre riding?"

i think a lot of people here would point you to outbound lighting. I think they're regarded as the "king suspension" of lights. I use NiteRider for my occasional night rides and they work well as well. similarish pricing.

yeah, they never do. I waited forever to try and grab one on sale but, never got the sale. so i just bit the bullet.

I will die on my hill of warm light, high cri flashlights. I don't know if Outbound or any of the other "bike lights" have made it a priority yet. I also like the ability to swap common cell li-ion batteries (18350/18650/21700) instead of proprietary battery blocks.

Do you folks do a lot of your own rim truing? I am not interested in buying the park tools rig for that amount of money, but there are a ton of other options in the $100-$200 range that look reasonable. I have a few different aluminum wheels that are starting to show a wobble (both gravel bike and one set of MTB) - looks relatively straight forward but the process seems to be one of those where working on getting a warp out can snowball into a FUBAR situation.

Both rims are relatively new and have never been into a shop or been adjusted before (not surprising they may need some attention after a season of riding). The local bike shop is around $25/wheel which is cheap insurance, but requires a trip every time it needs to be done.

Maybe now my wife will understand why I need carbon wheels for all the bikes.....

we have 5 mtb in the garage so I bought a truing stand. I bought a red one, I can’t remember the manufacturer. I’d recommend If you do buy one, spend a little extra and get the park.

Edit- this is the one I regret buying.

As a family, we seem to keep the MTB wheels pretty true. I’ve had to “re-round” my FatBike wheels a few times with a rubber mallet and a block of wood. Luckily our Cyclocross and gravel wheels are kept true by our family friend/bike mechanic. Trueing and wheel building fascinates me, I’d love to get good and invest in the equipment but my intuition seems to disagree with the process…I always seem to make it worse. Need to practice I guess.

Agreed to buy a new-to-me MTB off a friend recently. I’ve ridden it briefly and enjoyed it, and we’re similar builds so sizing is fine. The strange thing is how little I know about the ride I’ve committed to. I’m sure it’ll be great, but I can’t even look it up to drool over specs…
It’s a Trek Fuel EX (#?) carbon frame, maybe a ‘22? Size M Built with SRAM AXS, believe it even has the wireless dropper. Fox front and rear both being serviced now (why I’m waiting to pick it up). My buddy owns a shop and I know this bike is his baby, just couldn’t pass up. I’ll keep y’all posted as I learn more, first new-to-me MTB for since 2016, replacing this baby…

but it’s starting to look like my wife may inherit the Jekyll.
