Aside from the expense there's a lot to consider and plan for. I’ll help if I can, also would be up for another cert ride just renewed my membership.

I'd agree with this. If you think they're in a good spot for 2026, don't rush the prep and make it not fun. Use the money for you and Diane to get away somewhere nice, go somewhere tropical and rent a bike there maybe. Not really checking off the bucket list if you don't enjoy it because you were rushing or flip flopping on it y'know.

Also happy birthday to you both!

Appreciate it. In a way doing some more rides is one of the things I can do to prep for the actual IBR no matter what year I would enter. My friend Nate from Louisiana has submitted his entry, he texted me last night.

If things had gone the way they traditionally had in the past this would have already been resolved and I would have put in an entry. The announcement from several months ago that it was not going to be held took that opportunity and plan out the window. The more thought I put into it the more I lean towards a 2027 entry. I'm thinking though that a couple of cert rides in 2025 might be in order though to practice......

    Thanks for the birthday wish!

IBR is run every other year and in the odd years so 2027 should be the next running. I'm leaning towards waiting for 2027. I can swing a 2025 entry but given the much shorter lead time for prep I think I would feel rushed. If I wait I'll have my Tacoma paid off which will free up some money each month. I'm ordering a new phone and laptop before the end of the year. I was looking at new helmets last night and the new Shoei Neotec 3 is pricey but likely my pick for a new lid. Before doing the IBR my Penske shock should be freshened up and the forks wouldn't be a bad idea either. If they hadn't announced it as NOT happening I would have already put my name in and been prepping for it. The long delay and now shorter than normal time frame make it tough.

One other factor for those who don't follow this stuff. The start/finish location alternates with being in the east or west and 2025 being in Iowa makes it west of the Mississippi. This should make 2027 back east and closer to me which could help me out as well.

That makes sense, you'll be much better prepared and would be nice if it's closer east in 2027. Still plenty of riding in the meantime! We can try to plan one in the spring if timing works.

Happy Thanksgiving everyone! Hope its been a great day for everyone here filled with good times, family, friends and hopefully moto!

Managed to get out on a 60 mile loop before turkey day dinner with the parents this evening. The recent 1/10th scale LCG RC Crawler Build fits like a glove in the top box so low tide at the beach yielded an hour n a half long test n tune session. This thing does awesome. Let the haters hate, not doing any Class 1/2 comps so ended up with a traxxas bandit body hahahha vs the generic 5 "cab only" bodies typically found on a setup like this.

Learned this morning the closest Cycle Gear location to me has closed permanently. Was never really impressed with it but still hate seeing it gone. There are now only 3 locations in all of PA.

The nearest one to me was small and had almost nothing in stock that wasn't their own brands. Their website was also wrong about what they had in stock on every single thing I went in to try on. If yours was a similar disappointment, then I'm not surprised to see it closing.

Yesterday I drove by the old Cycle Gear location since it was actually on my way home from a shopping stop. Not only is the Cycle Gear closed but so are both of the other businesses they shared the building with. Two more businesses next to that building are also closed. I know PA wants to widen the interstate in that area leading me to wonder if perhaps that land is being bought up under eminent domain forcing the business closures. Hoping maybe they might reopen in a new location.

Getting ready to bundle up and go for a short ride. 23 degrees out .

Did anyone see that KTM is filing for bankruptcy? I saw a few posts on Facebook but didn't read much into it. Just saw and went huh interesting and back to marketplace lol.

"Restructuring" but yeah, I've been keeping an eye on it. Almost $3 billion euros in debt, way too much inventory, owning 3 brands that all basically make the same bikes but all require different marketing and branding. They kind of overshot on their growth projections everywhere and shot themselves in the foot. Cutting 500 jobs, stopping production for January and February, and seeing what happens now. Rumor mill has it that Red Bull might bail them out or their Indian partners might. We'll see, seems like the story is changing wildly every couple of days.

Yup. And they did their bicycle sector which failed terribly.

Lots of thoughts going around. Like why did the buy GG when they didn't really "gain" anything from it. Buying Husky expanded the dealerships. Why have 3 teams racing the same bikes? Just a bunch of stuff.

They'll be around. They probably need to go back to 1 brand but I don't think they'd get rid of husky. GG could go. Bajaj might bail them out?

Oh, I forgot they kind of own MV augusta, too, or at least Pierirerierir AG does. Yeah, I could see Gas Gas going. Also, why are they in motogp still. I'm shocked they haven't announced a plan to withdraw from that yet. I agree though, they won't disappear, too much name and IP value, but the ownership structure will likely change.

Lots of storefronts of many brands closing all over the place... A sign of a strong economy right? *Rollseyes*

Moto ride at 23deg.... Absofuckinlutly NOT.

KTM really went ham with the gas gas purchase and like mentioned they have 3 brands making the same shit. Why bother it's all just different colored KTMs now made in China.

It's ok. CFMoto will just buy them up and then they can restore the KTM heritage of dogshit reliability. :D

    Bahahahahahha

NGL, I'd buy a current CFMoto over any KTM product. All the issues my buddy has had with his KTM 1290 adventure and all the other random stuff vs other manufacturers really turns me off... Don't get me wrong they have made some amazing products that can't be beat performance/weight/features wise but it comes at a price.... I want something reliable that works and is easy to maintain and have zero issues sacrificing those categories above for that

still even a restructuring is not a great sign lol hopefully it goes well since it would suck to loose ktm but i also dont own one soooo not exactly my problem either lol just thought it was interesting.

lol i forgot they bought gas gas. it does seem a bit silly to have 3 brands making the same vehicle with different colors lol
