Tailgate lock

Just got a 2024 Tacoma Off Road. Want to lock the tailgate shut. See plenty of options to keep it from getting stolen but not seeing any options for 4th gen to lock tailgate shut. Had a 2015 taco and it wasn’t a problem. Any suggestions? Spoke to parts department at Dealership and they don’t think Toyota makes them.

 

Do you have the electric tailgate?

 

It doesn’t just lock automatically when you lock the doors?

 

If he has the electric open/close tailgate, it does lock.

 

I just have manual tailgate and it will still lock w/ the doors.

 

I think all tailgates, at least SR5 and up lock with the rest of the doors no matter if it's manual or power. That's gotten me a couple times when the truck was locked

 

My TRD Sport without any upgrade packages (so, manual with the damped hinges) locks with the rest of the central locking. It's gotten me more than a few times when I unlock it to get into the bed but don't open a door to keep it from re-locking.

I thought my tailgate was broken with mine. I went to open it, wouldn't open. I was like wtf didn't I open it at the dealership 3 hours ago. Unlocking the truck solved the issue and I was happy to know it locks.
