This picture from Imperial Sand Dunes National Recreation Area. Do not be fooled ... that center hole in the dunes is far more than 10 ft. below the top of the dune Between October 1 and April 15 sand buggies are allowed and everyone pays a fee to be there. The rest of the year is blazing hot desert and no buggies and is free.

The hole in the middle I think is called "Witch's Well" because falling down the side of the dune only the bottom of the "well" stops you.

I wish I could have more sympathy for those injured, especially seriously, during that weekend. But I am not a 20-year-old out to save the world from itself as many try to impose on me ... some actions carry implied penalties. Maybe I am just too old and have learned even from losing some family members to the consequences of selected actions.

Beautiful (that fuzzy stuff in the air is blowing sand), but carries risks:

 

Oh yeah, I spent a ton of time at the dunes growing up.. Thanksgiving, Presidents Day, Etc.. very familar.

 

Was it the stock cage that broke?

 

I think it was aftermarket. I'd have to check. It crumpled the b pillar tube and sheared the mounting hardware at the a pillars.

 

Doug knows these people and were out there camping when it happened and have tons of pictures. 5 people in a four-seater. Driver was drinking. Dumbass decisions all around. Poor girl isn't going to recovery well from this.

I'd like to know what brand if aftermarket, so I can avoid it.

I couldn't imagine dating in my 40's these days. My brother is in his 30's and he just has horror stories of crazy women.

Yes. But the shit he's told me. One girl literally said to him "I don't do 50/50 dates" the first time she meet him. Didn't say hello or introduce herself. He just turned around and walked away and she wasn't hot at all.

Thats just her showing off her true colors early and I would thank her for that, but I would have left immediately too. Did she start yelling at him as he walked away? There is that story of the dude that hit on a chick and he decided against her and she is trying to charge him 100 bucks cancellation fee. lol I bet there are some total ran through nut jobs out there.
