No, I was trying to be kind while pointing out it's flaws as a recovery point. Apparently I was too subtle so I'll be really clear this time for the legions of rookies looking for actual info.

In my opinion, If you want to play off-road dress up and hang offroady jewelry off your Taco these are a good option. In my opinion, if you want a real recovery point that can be used safely under harsh field conditions these things are not what you want.

Clear enough for you now sunshine?

Since I got them I already pulled 2 people out of the snow. A car and another Tacoma. and 1 stuck in mud. I personally think for average use they will do fine.

    But...
For heavy duty work like pulling a heavy truck out of a ditch. Then no.

I think these should be used as a supplement to. Or as a secondary to a main tow point. But in reality though you shouldn't be pulling someone from the front. You should be going forward and pulling from the back. (Pending conditions and circumstances of course)

I compared the pictures to my 08 & everything looks the same. However, my Avid lightbar lines up in exactly the same spot where the brackets mount so they're a no go.

Does it look like the driver & passenger sides can be reversed so the shackels are closer to the center? If so, they may just clear my light bar. I may just order them & return to Amazon if they don't fit.

I may have jumped the gun when I bought a set of these for my 06. Saw somewhere in the listing that these are for 09-15. Anybody have them on a pre 09 model? Any idea what would be different about that bumper bracket in newer Tacomas?

You may be the 1st to try the pre 09 fit. They won't ship to me from Amazon for 1-2 months, so let me know if the work & if they can be mounted on opposite sides.

No pics. I ended up installing a winch and sold them since I was getting bumper with recovery points to support the winch. I still think they are a good product and would do fine for the occasional recovery.

I have pics of them posted in the for sale thread for my truck! My bumper bracket broke the interior but in the bumper bracket, so I installed them without the extra bit that slides out. Check it out!

So far it has worked great - pulled some dead fall trees out of the road - rescued a neighbors jeep (don't we all). Rigged this demo up with a new tree saver strap - my brother in law never brought mine back.

My engineering experience is that hanging stuff on bolts is never a permanent solution - and a whole lot of the pull points I've seen on here look a little sketchy.

I've got them on the front of my truck, have used them to pull trees off the trail and used to recover myself last weekend when I got stuck, no issues.

those look weak and generic compared to BPF. Probably would not run them.
I had BPF. Sold them. Switched to an ARB. Both are stout, the ARB more so. Specifically engineered from a reputable off road company, not Amazon.
