    Why would that cause misfire?
And how would you account for the extra air hitting a single O2 sensor? I mean sure you can try to time it, but that's probably a lot easier said than done.
Maybe we're coming at this from different angles

The current methods and indeed the most early methods of cylinder deactivation (V8-6-4 Cadillac from the late 70s early 80s) stop the engine from going through cycles on those cylinders by collapsing the lifters and opening a compression relief valve. Other wise you feel the deadzone of a cylinder that is just compressing air needlessly and you get the feeling of a misfire since that is drag. The whole idea causes more cost in engine parts replacement than it saves the consumer in fuel but for the company it gets CAFE points so they do it. You could do as you're saying and monitor the AFR at each runner (hard with a turbo setup as the heat and pressure of pre-turbo runners is a lot for them) and not stop the 4 cycles on some cylinders but it would feel extremely lopsided like any engine with a multiple cylinder misfire would.

    Haven't touched it.

Sounds like a reverse version of rolling anti-lag.

Guess my 1500 can do it. Man I need to install it this winter. Just need a couple months of free time that I don't have, lol. Seems pretty fun since it's just a simple switch on/off

Ya my thought was (in lieu of the engine hardware) to just stop fuel and spark on cylinders 3,4 (or even alternate 2,3,6 and 1,4,5 per 4 stroke cycle) and I assumed it would feel weird, but somewhat remain balanced. Coincidentally I just watched a video that mentioned cylinder deactivation only saved about 5-10% fuel economy, so meh

Yeah likely more work than it's worth and you would probably need open source EFI like Speeduino so you could program in such a mode since none do cyl deactivation to my knowledge. Best to just study up real good and build a solid tune for economy.

I'm torn on whether I should commit to shift by RPM or shift by vehicle speed. Thoughts?

Shift by RPM seems like an unwise idea just given how much the torque converter can let RPMs skew vs speed traveled until locked. I would use vehicle speed personally. This strategy would tend to work best with a TC that is vehicle matched well but I could see RPM working in a more deterministic setting like for a drag car.

Anyone know if this is anything but battery voltage? (message you get when for using IGN outputs for generic outputs). I can test real quick if not

Update: yes, it is battery voltage. At least on mine.

Trans control is functional and I have TC lockup at a proper time again :)

Does that mean you're a full standalone now. Stock ECU finally gone?

I'm trying to think of what it could still need.... I still have the PnP harness plugged in but ya maybe it's possible to unplug

Noice, that's a good feeling, so many things are less wonky when that's gone be it trigger setup, or sensor pullups, etc

    Two side notes:
    1. Anyone interested, shoot me a PM if you want info on how to wire the solenoid amplifier and what to buy (very simple)
    2. The new Nexus ECU supports more amps and would not need external circuitry to drive them

Yeah not requiring additional circuitry is a nice feature of the new ECUs. The one amp limit of the elites is so close too for the solenoids. I'd like to see what you came up with using solid state parts. It's pretty well related might as well post it up here

I'm glad I'm not the only one that leaves breadcrumbs when I make something. I've got all sorts of cave drawings on the inside of various panels of project boxes

IRF5305 MOSFETs. Source is battery (I tapped the CAN WB1 line), Drain is solenoids out, Gate is Haltech with a pullup to battery voltage (active low since PMOS).

    IMG_20241208_162040_470.jpg

Ignore the "R". That was if I couldn't do an internal pull-up.
    IMG_20241208_162105_395.jpg

I can always quickly go back to factory control:
