Mods for a 96 2.7 Engine? 4x4

I have a 96 Tacoma with 2.7 4 Cylinder Engine. It's a Manual Transmission.
What can I do to it to get some more power out of it and beef it up? I already have a flow master Cat on it as well as a K&N Cold Air Intake. I really don't want to supercharge it or turbo cause I feel it is a waste of money and I could probably just go out and drop a V6 in it for how much it would cost me.
Any suggestions would be great! Thanks guys.

 

How are your plugs? The motor in my 02 felt doggy as hell compared to the old 96 I had. I pulled the plugs and I'm sure they were the factory originals. The electrode was almost completely gone. Properly gapped NGK plugs will make a HUGE difference if yours are worn.

 

Sell it and buy a V6 if you want more power. Most mods aren't going to make much difference and are too expensive. Also, trying to "drop a V6" into your truck is not a walk in the park.

Personally, I'd just appreciate your 4-banger for what it is: Simple, easy to work on, and very reliable. Keep it stock and it will last forever.

I agree keeping it stock is the way to go.
Considering the OP lives in Utah = mountanious I can appreciate the desire for more power. In the hills the 4 cyl is SLOW.
