Ah that makes sense to flip it for the low profile mounts. I thought I read somewhere that groove causes a whistle or something depending on how it was oriented.

Egh, I beg to disagree. Unless of course you are simply talking about throwing a Canopy Camper on a bone stock Tacoma, then yeah, much too heavy. But they can certainly be modified to deal with it just fine.

440 lb., minus the 60 lb. (weight of my tailgate when I prepped it for shipment) leaves us with 380, that ain't bad. Especially for a competent wedge camper that isn't just a bunch of extruded aluminum pieces bolted together. We get hatches that have an actual frame (not just flat sheets like a GFC), that sweet rear door, pre-wired lighting and solar, etc. etc.

Now a full slide in like a Kimbo or Scout (~800-900 lb.)? Yeah, those are much to heavy, even on a modified truck.

Fix-It-Pass in the Swell. Felt composed and planted the entire time. Camera is level to the horizon. Still had to get even more tippy as the front passenger climbed up that rock in the lower left of the photo.

Planning...suspension, front slimline bumper, winch, full skids, 2" lift, SCS Ray 10's, Pizza cutters, Power Tray, Switch-Pro, Alu-Cab Contour Canopy.
The faucet is mounted on a custom plate that I made that is attached to a drawer slide and pulls out.

The molle panels are Built Right Industries and I have another pair mounted on the opposite side of each inside the shelf where I have tools mounted.

These things look so good, but I definitely don't off-road or camp enough. I've got a pavement queen

If you peek behind the Ecoflow battery on the passenger side it's a BedRug. I have one myself and HIGHLY recommend it! Pricey, but installs easily and looks super-clean with the cutouts for the cubbies.

Here's mine, about a month with it, so far loving it, now I just need to figure out how to mount things!
Previously had a bed rack and it was easy to stick things on it :) seems like you need to be creative figuring
    out mounting ideas!

Found a ridiculous deal on a Gen 3R tent with a Hest mattress…just had to drive 8 hours to get it.

For anyone wondering, with the tent mounted to a Contour Canopy with the low profile feet, an RCI roof rack has about 1/2” of clearance. Just have to take out the rear cross bars. I think it looks a lot better than a half rack. Also, 99% of my driving is on road or forest roads so I’m not real worried about flexing enough for it to make contact. We’ll see though.

installed a Terrapod RTTx on the alucab canopy last weekend and drove a few states home. I am cutting down my prinsu rack today because of clearance issues. Mounting an alucab shadow 270 awning today too, the awning has me concerned since is so BIG!IMG_3966.jpg

I don’t recall seeing anyone on here mention how much of a PAIN this awning is to mount lol. Worth it though, it’s super super nice.

It doesn’t have t-slots on the back like most awnings. There are a bunch of predrilled holes and it bolts through the frame and the bag itself. So you have to open up the awning to be able to get the bolts into the brackets. And when bolting it to the Gen 3 tent brackets, the rear ones are almost impossible to get an allen wrench on. I will say it is way more solid than my OVS awning though.

Hey all, I’m interested to hear what others have done for insulation on both the Alu Cab and the gravity fed water line to keep from freezing for those who have the water tank.

I live in my rig full time right now and temps on the east coast are starting to hit that freeze point
