Is it a worthwhile mod to do?
Knowing the shafts and cv's are spinning all the time it seems (to me) that L/O hubs would be a good way to go.
If this mod is more or less common could someone point me out to what hubs are best?
    Thanks!

I'm not sure about the tacos but I know the L/O hub conversions for the fords and dodges are SUPER expensive!

All that is rotating is the CV shafts in 2x4, the rolling resistance is not really all that different. I love lockout hubs for their reliability and assurance, but it's just not worth the money on these trucks. I'll be putting up a writeup sometime in the near future on how to use ADD like cab mounted lockout hubs (with the ability to keep it unlocked and locked as well as the factory auto position).

Yup, gains 2 lo and allows you to keep it locked in so 4wd shifts are much easier when it's cold.

I did alot of research on this and decided against it.
#1 the lock out hub is weaker than the add hub. People who have run manual hubs have blown the hub out multiple times. This kind of failure is way less common on ADD hubs. IMO the benefits are not worth just one blow hub if that happens on a trail your up the creek. I would much rather have to replace a Cv on the trail than to find a replacement spindle.
#2 If you arn't religious about locking your hubs and driving around for awhile you may have problems with SPS "stagnant parts syndrome".
#3 It is way cost prohibitive unless you find a truck in a junkyard.

It's not hard with the J-shifter either...but yeah, not nearly as easy as with the push button.

The boots wouldnt wear but from what i have heard over 3 inches can cause cv's to bind. Binding = breakage.
