So I can't help but ask, are all you guys posting these coyote pics actually coyote hunting and posting the pics here, or are you "deer hunting"? Because if it's the latter then it seems counterproductive to me. Here you can kill coyotes year round. Deer season is a few weeks and over.

I shoot them when I see them. If it’s a nose, ear or foot even. However I can kill or even wing that bastard, he is gonna get shot at. 6 for the season here so far and all while hunting deer. Usually get a couple during turkey season too. Have killed one in the snow during a duck hunt with steel shot even. If there is anything different I need to do it’s probably start trapping for a couple weeks right after deer season.

As far as impact of shooting coyotes during a deer hunt, I shot two one morning in October and about an hour later had a nice buck herd two does right under me. All that after does snorted and ran off when the yotes came through. No bait, just sitting a thicket edge bedding area.

That's cool, but then you are not really deer hunting, or duck hunting, because all those times you shot those 'yotes you can't know what was just out of sight getting ready to walk/fly in. So if killing coyotes is so important to you why not just go coyote hunting? And I'm not trying to be a dick, just understand the mindset.

Also, I can't help but ask, did a coyote eat your mom?

You give more credit to critters than they deserve. I shot two yotes in October. The first while the second just stood there. I squeaked him into the open where I could shoot him. A yote is sharper than a deer generally speaking. They do more spooking deer alive than they do dead. What I am saying and you dont seem to understand is that shooting a yote in no way hinders the hunt for deer, turkey, ducks whatever. And it makes me feel great too boot.

Now you are being a jerk. Coyotes are not native here, an invasive species. They are efficient predators taking a toll on all sorts of wildlife, namely game I like to hunt. They take newborn calves here on this cattle farm. They wake me up yodeling at 3 am. They can be hunted and killed year round here with little regulation, basically have to report any night hunting. They are of no value and displace a ton of native wildlife.

So I have to ask, are you a yote lover? Wait, I don’t really care.

So first. I was a golf course superintendent for 30 years at a limited budget course. That means from mid march to Oct it was me 7 days a week. Because of that the club turned a blind eye for the rest of the year. The only people out there that have spent more time in a tree than me are those that do it for a living.

That said I can't tell you how many times I've been watching deer and a yote would howl not to far off and they wouldn't give it a second thought. Coyotes are hell on fawns. Adult deer, sorry, no.

So you are saying that if a nice buck (or any deer for that matter) is 50 yrds out, out of sight, and you blast a coyote he's going to come walking right in? Then you are telling me you haven't deer hunted much.

Seems to be a profound hatred of coyotes. I mean I don't like them. Have killed my fair share, but ain't going to let them fuk up my deer hunt.

Coyotes are just a bonus opportunity to me; I shoot them because I enjoy it (especially with a bow), yet I also think they're the smartest, most adaptable critter in North America (that includes humans ) and I give them great respect.

    But still fun to shoot.:)

I hunt around egg laying/turkey farms. When birds die they are thrown onto a composting pile. There is an huge coyote population here. There are also an unbelievable amount of deer, and I have a bunch of mounts in a storage unit to prove it.

Killed a deer at almost dusk. Had just got done gutting it when a very large group of coyotes made their presence known just up the hill form me. Made the hair on the back of my neck stand up. I couldn't get out of there soon enough. Also have killed deer that I knew I wasn't going to be able to get out until the next day. Threw a coat or shirt over the carcass and the next morning found it undisturbed.

Thats a bit ridiculous and antagonistic. Is them shooting a coyote messing up your deer hunt? Then Who GAF?? Maybe it will mess their hunt up maybe not. Coyotes will scare out adult deer and wreak havoc on fawns and turkeys. They arent even close to be endangered. Only good coyote is a dead one.

I don't disagree with that. My only point is there is a time and a place, and it isn't when I'm deer hunting. It's obvious I take deer hunting more seriously than some here. I just don't get why one is willing to let a coyote fuck up their deer hunt. And please stop insulting my intelligent by saying it doesn't. When a deer is within a certain distance and you fuking blast a fuking coyote it's going to fuking run the the other fuking way.
