The lack of response and accountability unfortunately tells us all what we need to know....

I don't understand why people want to hate the 4G Tacoma. I've had a 1G, 2G and 4G Tacoma plus a 1G and 3G Tundra over 25 years and not one EVER went to the shop for any warranty repair. True, 1st gen models can have issues but those with extensive Toyota history are not likely too concerned; especially when the issue is not even Toyotas'. Look at the options; Toyota is still the best option.

I love how the trolls and cockroaches come out of the woodwork to bash the 4th gen at EVERY opportunity.

I don't blame Toyota for not fixing it, but you would think you could lift the front 2 inches without having to worry about the axle breaking.

That joint does just slide apart, and this would be a half hour fix with one new boot for the OP had it not caused other damage.

The axle still spinning and flopping all around being rotated by the tire is what caused the damage.

Had OP stopped when he heard that first clunk, it likely would have been fine.

Ok I was only minimally trolling but I hope you guys realize there are millions of lifted non 4th gen Tacomas and tens of millions of other lifted Toyota vehicles and just lifted trucks in general out there in the world and they all back out of parking spaces daily without their stock cv axle exploding and 99.9 percent of them don’t have a diff drop

I’ve personally owned probably 15 Toyota lifted vehicles none with a diff drop btw all on stock cv over the years and non of them once exploded

you guys are all blaming this guy saying Toyota did zero wrong and he’s completely to blame because he lifted his truck what 2 inches?? And yet some of you clowns want to put 35 or 37 inch tires on a 4th gen?? What the fuck do you think will happen then if the piece of shit cv axle on the 4th gen can’t even handle a 2inch lift sweet baby Jesus almighty

I loaned out my old taco to an ex who drove around on the fucking freeway and town for a few days in 4wd she told me when she did u turns at a light it was hard to do the uturn (because the dumb bitch had it in 4wd the few days she was driving my truck around) yes truck was lifted no diff drop larger tires and she can’t drive for shit so I’m sure she cranked the shit out of the wheel by some divine miracle my axles did not explode

i use my trucks to get me to the middle of nowhere so if this happens to me it could potentially turn into a life or death situation of course I always have contingencies for a worst case scenario but I would not want to own a truck I could no trust

if all I did was go to Costco then who gives a fuck I suppose

BoBsworld21 sorry this happened to you. I keep preaching - the slightest modifications to your original vehicle specifications, from any manufacturer, will void warranty. It's a no-brainer and courts will tell you to go by-by...

that’s not true. Over half this forum (probably closer to 75 percent if not more) have modified their vehicles. In your argument you can’t even put aftermarket tires on it because a larger size or heavier weight tire will put excessive wear and tear on components and the truck wasn’t designed or engineered to handle it

basically Toyota would encourage you to mod your vehicle so they would never have to pay warranty ever (on a side note god help you if you actually do need warranty work the stealership techs are so brain dead and incompetent they would fuck that up somehow)

What would be really interesting is if someone with an Icon coilover put their truck on jackstands, turned it to full lock, and rotated the tire by hand to see how close the tulip joint is to popping out.

It would be nice if Icon gave you extended length of their coilover so you could compare to other brands.
