Basically same situation happened to this guy, he had a 2.7 2wd auto though.
They seemed to put the blame on the u-joint failure causing the trans to explode

I think the u joint was the failure with mine too

 

Isn't your whole driveshaft almost brand new?

 

Yea but it was slightly too short.
I should’ve exchanged it at the same shop, but Zane told me his driveshaft guy could take care of me, so I figured I’d just try to make it up there. Obviously that didn’t pay off for me.

Yea the fire dept came out and sprayed soap and retardant on the gas and now I’m waiting on AAA to take me into Rapid City

Talked to Dan and he'll look into it a little more, but he suggested a what if for the starter in case it went out

Once the crankshaft sensor arrives, if replacing it does nothing, I'm going to outsource the starter replacement cause I'm gonna have the Z in the garage.

 

Man I wish I had the spare parts and was close enough to help. I have spare drive shafts for 100 series that I keep on hand should something weird happen on the trail around here. I just bought a new front this week on sale to replace an original.

 

So I'm replacing the valve cover gaskets on the Nissan VQ30. The valve covers look a lot like the ones on a 5VZ. Both require a little bit of RTV in specific locations to guarantee a good seal.

I've been using Permatex black for years when sealing a rubber gasket to a metal surface. In the past 5 years, I've been extremely happy with Toyota FIPG black.

I think I'll use Toyota FIPG on my Nissan project.

 

I really like Toyota's FIPG. Their shelf life sucks though
