Some Toyota 4x4 love for y’all.

When I was in 2nd grade (that’s the 1900s for you youths) Yat Ming made a 1/18 LC under their Road Legends banner. These were crude at best. At the end of a term in school I got a good report card and that was going to be my gift but the only one they had was a busted tailgate. My Mom rightfully figured I’d not want it and got me something else.

Many moons later I thought about scooping one but decided they were too crude. Earlier this year Ottomobile released their version of the FJ80 and I passed and they ended up selling out. A diecast website was selling the Otto for just about $100 shipped and I hopped on it.

 

I worked for Toyota when those came out in real life, they were like $75,000 back in the 90s! Super nice though, I’ve been trying to get my hands on a used one that isn’t all rusted out here in Michigan. They hold their value well

 

Back when I first went looking for my original Xtracab in 2010-2011 I had come across a decent looking FJ80 for maybe $4,500. I had given it some serious thought but a friend talked me out of it saying I'd get 9 MPG. I had really wanted a pick-up rather than an SUV, but I liked it a lot. I really like how the new Land Cruiser evokes the FJ80 in the rear 3/4 view. I'm hoping to get another 7-8 years out of my truck, but I wouldn't be surprised if I replace it with the LC.

Trying to convince my wife that a LC is the way to go, but she wants a 4Runner, it’s a win either way.

 

The chase in the race day set is different from all other chases, and already going for top coin on the secondary market
