A friend and I put a message in a bottle and threw it in the Detroit River.
A man yelled at us that we just threw away 2 cents!

Gas price wars circa 1970 in Detroit. 19 cents a gallon. Cars were backed up for blocks waiting in line.

Remember when you could just do your job without being continually hobbled and hand cuffed by IT and bean counters?

People would wait in line for two cents cheaper gas, and the attendant would pump it

Holy chit, I've done a lot already!!
I think I'm a bit younger than you, I'm 47, But I totally remember EVERYTHING was from Sears. Kenmore this, Craftsman that, clothes, lawn equipment, etc. I even bought a pair of earrings for a girlfriend there. Fortunately I still have alot of my Craftsman tools. Man, what a sad decline Sears had :(
