I'm in the dewalt scroll saw camp too, can't beat em for the money. I purchased mine used and it's been a great saw, I use it a lot and it has held up well. If I wear it out I'd buy another one.

Started installing the crown on the updated upper cabinets. As long as I don’t screw any other cuts up I should have enough crown to finish the main run!

Needed to get some speakers in the shop to upgrade the tunes. Major job to do it. Everything in front of the lumber rack had to be moved and half the rack emptied and then put it all back and make everything fit.

    Speakers in place.

After I cleaned the shop up from the speaker install I worked on a finger joint jig.

    1/2" dado stack.

I think I need to add a shim to the dado stack to loosen the joint up a bit.

That was enough for today, my back is very fatigued. I'm not a young man anymore.

If you click on the watch on YouTube it will play. I tried to fix it in the settings but no luck.

Thank you DB, we barely got in before the housing market crashed years ago. We got very lucky. At night, the lights from Fernwood look spectacular.

EDIT: I forgot to mention the Eucalyptus piece. I’ve found, once the wood stabilizes, Eucalyptus is fun to work with. The smell. The strength. The look. Good stuff from planet Earth.

I want to be away from nosey neighbors and HOAs, with dark skies and crickets as a soundtrack.

Even working with common pine makes a wonderful smell to work in.

Of course that is what we all want.

But heads around here always running equipment. Lights are going to invade you sooner or later. It is what it is. As for noise, I love it. It means people are trabajando! I can’t wait to improve our property. I’ll be building a welded rebar cemented retaining wall so I can set up Sun Rise Summit. The projects of all projects for me. One large flat area here in Topanga is priceless.

Ain’t lying too when I crank up the Hot Saws…particularly the one that runs on nitro. Sound gonna get you for a country mile(s) :D

A friend has 100+ acres in rural NC (40 miles SW of Chapel Hill) and sells some of her trees (replanted, of course) to a lumber company to pay property taxes for the year. But even that far out is under pressure for "luxury housing developments".

I would get a good survey of that terrace from a professional because if foundation is not deep/wide enough it could fall away. Should be stable as long as you know the ground-composition. But that would be an excellent addition.

Wood working noice does not bother me so much, it is loud obnoxious (just inherently obnoxious) music that I do not want. Lived once in an apartment complex that was across a small-medium valley from a bar ... police do not shut them down until very late.

Made myself a coat rack and shelf for the entry way :D

My old Ikea coat rack in the entry way looked sad and slightly out of level so I went wanted to make a new one I'd like. I went on marketplace and found a guy selling a 2x4 maple plywood board for $10 so I got it and picked up a few poplar boards too.

Used my track guide to cut the board square and used it to create a few shallow cuts in the maple board to make it look like it was slates, once I was done with that I went on to the poplar 1x2, 1x3, and the trim piece cutting them to size to frame the maple board, on the 1x6 board I used as a shelf I cut it to size as well and routed the underside to add a little fancy flair. After all that I stained the maple and shelf and ended up paining the framing with some caviar black paint from Lowes I had. Once I got the frame together I went and did the math for the hook spacing and ended up printing a few spacers to wedge in between and under them to make sure everything was even and you can see the final product down below.

In total I spend about $40 worth of supplies and the bulk of that was the hooks.

When the grand-kiddos show up for Christmas, make a show of giving each one his/her own hook?
