I have had the hypertech installed for almost 10 years so my calculations are near what they should be.

I mean.. 4.88 is definitely a jump. I'm not surprised at all then. I get shit mileage with the weight and my 4.56s.. like 10-11 mpg..

yah but 4.56 to 4.88 is not really a big jump. if it was stock to 4.88 sure but 8 mpg. Im not the only person running 4.88's on 2nd gens.

I get it.. I just wouldnt be surprised if you're seeing that more than anything else. Thats why I stuck with 4.56's.. its already high rpms now.. 4.88's only make it worse.

Ita been quite a few years (over 8+) but I swore my mpgs went down A LOT when I got my walbro installed. Like a 2-3mpg loss similar to what @nudavinci64 is describing.

But knowing fuel pressure/trim is regulated regardless of pump capacity, and I don't smell gas vapors, no CELs, and dyno pulls have shown proper AFR....

.....I attributed it to the natural working conditions of the new fuel pump. Only because I couldn't explain the drop in mpgs

    sorry...

yah I get that. It was not an option, nor would I have. I liked 4.56 but i ran it with smaller tires then bigger tires then and didn't see much of a difference so would be surprised it would drop that much but that is def a harder one to test out.

@nudavinci64 new wheel/tire setup? Didn't you go from Wilwood to PowerBrake or something? Brakes dragging?

There has been no new brake setup in the past 2 years but am running Stoptech Front/Rear. I don't hear any dragging. Tech the brakes were swapped over to the rear axle but haven't heard or felt it drag. I put some new wheels on but the same tires, which could be an issue since prob worn differently. Eventually, I will get new ones.

I plan to plug in my HP tuner and get some logs this weekend. Is there anything specific to look for? It's been a while since I loaded it up or I can post up some screenshots.

I started it up just now and noticed that at Idle in Park, I am idling a bit higher than expected. It was cold to start, but after a few minutes, it was still sitting at 1200 or so. I took it for a spin around the block, and it is sitting at 1000. I did not see any loose Vacuum hoses. I will give the MAF a bath later and see if that helps. Are there any other things that may continue to elevate idle? 02 sensors would be my other thought just not sure how to check that assuming getting some logs will help. I it on my ULtra Guague, and they are reading in Lambda around .9 - 1 normally so didn't think much of it.

If you don't mind, send me a 30 second idle log followed by a very slow, steady and controlled rev up to 4K RPM in park. (should take about 20 sec to get from idle to 4K).

That'll tell me a lot about what's going on.

Stock belt works well here, all the way down to 2.5" RIP-modded pulley, with @Roostfactor's pulley wrap mod and the stock tensioner.

It blows my mind that you Cali guys put up with all that and commit to installing and uninstalling shit just to pass emissions.. Sounds awful.. lol and I'm totally taking advantage of it tomorrow when I get out there to pick up my new toy from someone who is just over it all and is throwing in the towel on getting it to pass smog.

Joining the other side of the boosted life spectrum.. 86 Turbo 4Runner. Looking forward to going down the Turbo rabbit hole. We drive out in a few hours.. staying a couple nights out there to take care of everything and prep it for the drive back on Saturday.
