Still better than no heat! At least you can turn it off and on.

same thought. its just generally not worth the risk of hitting ice. all it would take is some asshat dumping something on the road.

i had to do a week straight a couple years ago when my clutch went out in my gto. probably teens or single digits with a 20 min highway commute, no heated gear. miserable.

I live in south central PA and know all about those situations. Provided the roads are dry and clear of cinders, salt, brine they use to melt ice I still ride. Only the ride in is still dark, ride home is daylight so that helps. I also run auxiliary lighting on my bike though so that helps with spotting for wildlife.

so i was joking with my gf the other day since i saw a sale going on for a honda grom and joked oh what if i went in and got two that would be fun!
gf- tf you gonna do with two groms?
me-uhh well one you can ride and then when you want your rebel you can buy that with your moneys.
gf-no no ill pay for my grom im not against buying two to mess about with.

doubt she will want to do it right now since she is focusing on some things and getting them taken care of but she is down to get two groms before she gets her rebel or dirtbike. so mini bikes in the future? lol they do have one on sale atm for 2800 which is hard to pass up on... but dont wanna buy one until she also has one since i wont ride it much if she doesnt have one.

Yup. It’s bitten me in the ass a few times with surprise snow in the afternoon or evening, but if it’s dry and clear and I’m not doing daycare drops that day, I’m trying to ride too.

We’ve been having a weird freezing fog this last week that’s made a few mornings questionable. Sidewalks are meh but roads have been good at least.

I need to get my old pair of hippo hands put onto the super moto so I can start taking that :bikewheelie2:

Heated jacket liner is awesome I should have bought one years ago, still need to get gloves. Went on a nice ride last Sunday it was high 30s/low 40s according to my dash and that thing kept me toasty.

studs would make a huge difference. which id imagine in AK is easy to run with the constant/sufficient snow that isnt melting constantly down to the road

The CEO at my company has a Ducati Monster in AK, and a Multistrada stored in VA. Its pretty cool that it has AK plates here

I havent. Met some guys from MI while I was racing sm that offered the invite but I never made the time for it. I've always heard them say there's more traction on ice with studs than a dry pavement and tire.

I used to ice race my Honda CR500R back in the early 90's in upstate NY and also in MA for a few years. It was a blast!

The WA ferries are huge and with limited exception, Puget Sound sea state is no factor, so no issues really. I just leave it in gear on the kickstand. Every once in a great while, a storm will roll through, and water will come through the bow opening, but on days that warrant that, very very few would be out riding anyways.

I'm sure it's different for other ferries, but they load bikes either first or last depending on when you show up and it's a simple RORO affair.

I'd ride all the time in Utah during the winter, but I'd def wait a few days after the roads dried back out before thinking about a ride. I don't have heated gear, just some good layers, but the heated grips on my Triumph were super nice to have any time it was below about 45* so even non-freezing, was nice to have.

Riding this weekend in the 40* territory, I did start to think about a heated vest to keep the cold out of my core without the bulk.

There are few better feelings than riding past the entire line to get on the ferry first

Makes you feel 10 feet tall. Coming down the hill either side of Mukilteo/Clinton and passing 3 hours of cars. On the way home Sunday, I got there just in time and didn't even stop. Got to the front of the parking line just as they started rolling cars, and got the "keep going" wave. Even better as that means you get the hole shot and wont get jammed in traffic at the stoplight.

Before going with just a heated vest check the pricing on the full jacket liner. Reason I suggest this is the jacket liners usually have built in heated glove wiring so if later on you choose to add gloves the wires are there. Added bulk on the arms is minimal.
