Hey folks. I bought one of the Hondo Garage unholy vent mounts for my 2018 to hold a Samsung Tab A9+ to use with my Garmin Alpha dog tracking system. The mount held up about 2 weeks then it fell/pulled out of the vent. Mounted it again and a few minutes later it fell again. Tried another vent, lasted about a day then fell again. Am I doing something wrong? Are the screws not tightening properly? Also where would be safe to just bolt the ram ball to the dash somewhere? Didnt want to just go to drilling holes and tear something electrical up or trigger an air bag lol. Any help would be appreciated!

I don't have any advice on the Hondo mount, but if you're looking for options, while it might be more than most folks want to spend for a single mount, it's rock solid. I wouldn't just through bolt a RAM mount anywhere on the dash without some metal reinforcement. I bought this for an ipad mini, along with the Mighty Magnet kit and couldn't be happier.

And, of course, it doesn't block a vent..

I had looked at this one as well, my only thing Is I dont really want it up near the windshield just a personal preference thing. I was running mine kinda off to the side of the factory screen and really liked it there till it started falling down. And of course I would have some type of backing if I did mount it to the dash somewhere. Just would like to get the thing back up and going asap. Hunting season is getting close to an end lol.

You have to insert the backing plate and push outwards towards the lip and hold and tighten the screw at the same time or it won’t clamp correctly.
