    That car screams "head gasket in a bottle" fix

    The only point I'd try driving is to simply not purchase a car on a whim - you have a history of doing that

    Can you just get that rental and make it back to ID and then figure out a car solution out there instead?

    Idk he just replaced the trans in it. It was another breakdown on the road like me. I could rent a car but that one way fee is a bitch (like 500 bucks).

    He’s letting me drive it around for the day while I decide what to do. He showed me the title though and it said “application for a new title from New Mexico, so I’m not sure if that’d be enough to get it registered in Idaho or there’d be more red tape.

    It's less Tacoma and more mod
    I've never done a registration in Idaho so I can't help you there. In Washington if you don't have a title you need the registered owner present to transfer then.

    Yea I didn’t quite understand if I’d have to wait for the old title or I could just title in in ID with that document he has

    So did the place selling it acquire a lien sale?

    Cause in that case, they can indeed provide necessary paperwork to do a legal transfer to you

    The gotcha here is not knowing what ID needs exactly as you may need some of their specific DMV paperwork filled out by the seller you're visiting

    Home Depot truck rentals are unlimited miles and I think you can return anywhere. If you can make the drive in one days it’d be like $150

    I don’t think it was a lien, I think maybe they had lost the title and were in the process of applying for a new one. It has their info and signature and a place for me to sign.

    Actually I don’t think Rapid City has a Hime Depot believe it or not, just a Lowes.

    @Ozark_RegCab

    Did you even bother negotiating the rental?

    I don't know where in Idaho you relocated to but it's only 15 hours or so from Rapid City SD

    You just need the vehicle and trailer for a day, and last time I looked up uhaul trailers it was really cheap for a day
