    Hey guys,

My family and I are all pitching in to gift my brother a lift kit for his 95.5 Tacoma Ext. Cab this Christmas.

I'm wondering if anyone has any experience with this kit from Summit:

    https://www.summitracing.com/parts/aof-ap-306823/make/toyota/model/tacoma/year/1995

Is there anything else that we might need for his truck or this kit?

Or is there another option that you guys think would be better?

    Thanks

Both of those are probably worth half the value of the truck, which hopefully has a rust free frame.

I recommend calling @memario1214 at Hotshot Offroad and discussing your options.

Be prepared to answer a lot of questions about the condition of the truck and how it is used. That's info needed to make good choices.

Is the 95 Tacoma a six lug or five lug? These lifts wont fit a five lugger.

Make sure you get the correct leaf springs for a 95.5. 95-97 has different leaf springs than 98-04, that Summit link does not differentiate the two (actually it cites an incorrect model year range of 94-04), and I would assume that means they are 98-04 leafs which will not fit a 95.5. To my knowledge AllPro does not make a 95-97 leaf spring today.

Basically the only off the shelf bolt on lift spring option on a 95.5 is the OME CS019R leaf springs, which are well know to lift too much. Mine lifted my truck like 5" over stock worn leafs and aal, and sat the truck a couple inches higher in the back than the front. I counteracted that with a heavy rear bumper and a camper shell, but without those the rear end would stick up a lot. Even still I sit an inch higher in the rear when the beds not laoded. You may have to remove a leaf out of the leaf pack for the truck to sit nicely.
These are also quite stiff, and I can't imagine they would compliment nice fox shocks very well. I have no experience with nice shocks or shock tuning tho so maybe someone knowledgeable can chime in on if these leafs would pair well.

You could also cut off and re-weld the leaf mounts to accommodate 98-04 leaf springs, if you are open to paying for that or have the skills to do so.

That kit from summit is also available on Wheelers for $600 less, sale might end tomorrow tho; and will include new leaf spring hangers which will have to be welded on to fit a 95.5.
