Was your custom drive shaft flange to flange? Like the ujoint was recently replaced when you put the new driveshaft in?

So I'm not up to speed on the catastrophic failure here.

Outside of a fuel tank, driveshaft, and new bell housing, any other possible items that may have been damaged? Or are those all the major components really?

I believe so yes. Could the driveshaft being slightly too short have caused it to shear like that?

That's what I'm wondering, that was a massive bind up and subsequent shock wave to wreck the bell housing like that

All we got to go on are his pics, but that seems to be the case. Maybe a clutch too.
Exhaust dented, but not catastrophic from the look of it

I guess I was wondering if the transmission is still good too with the massive bind up

Though he said he can still shift the gears.

Like I said it shifts fine and goes into 4wd normally.

Id be skeptical that saving the $250 to get just a bellhousing instead of a full trans is worth the risk of future transmission issues for sure

It’s interesting. Maybe the bell housing was the fuse in this case?

I think the whole driveline just twisted/jolted when the u-joint or whatever part of the driveshaft bound up or seized. The old tired bell housing said no thanks to that
