If you really want to run the 285s and do any sort of wheeling you really will need both.

Probably won’t until I’m financially ready for it lol. These wheels & tires are my last Christmas gift before I go off to college. Me and pops are meeting halfway to pay for it

It can be done with just ucas with the right caster set up. Doing both is best case scenario. But at minimum ucas and really good alignment.

    So I can’t go without a cmc or uca’s?

And return the 2” spacer and go with the 1” , I believe Bora or Spidertax makes a 1/2” spacer that would work too.

So I can’t run my new tires at all without either the CMC or the new uca’s? What would happen if I ran them with spacers only?

They will rub on the factory set up. With just spacers it will make the rubbing worse as it changes the track width and scrub radius. Unfortunately you just can’t throw on 285s and go with these trucks it takes a little bit of work. You need the spacer to clear the ucas with that wheel but then the additional track width causes another set of issues unfortunately.

Spacers only help with clearing the uca, but creates problems with the fender plastic and cab mount. 2" spacers are not the answer. Get 1" and a CMC, and trim whatever plastic rubs. CMC should cost $100~, as opposed to $900 control arms.

I have a mechanic at work who’s experienced with truck welding.. do you think I could get him to do my cmc or do I need to take it to a specific outfitter to do it? 100 isn’t too bad.

Gotcha. I’m just trying to figure out if I can run it with just spacers temporarily

The I’d go with the least amount of spacer needed to just clear the ucas. Knowing they’re definitely will rub on full turns and even probably half turns if hitting a bump like going onto and angled slope and backing up while turning.

Found this cmc on tw. My mechanic has the trimming tools to do this and I bet it’d be a walk in the park for him. I’ve seen him weld and cut off a bunch of different things on the trucks around the workplace. He’s my girlfriends grandfather so I bet he’ll hook me up for some help around the shop in return:D

Yeah.. sounds like the best option is to wait until I’m all ready to go. I appreciate the advice guys

    So my gameplan:
    - Run current wheels/tires with 1in spacers when I get them in
    - See if my mech would want to do the cmc at some point (if not I just take it to a shop in town somewhere)
    - once cmc is on then I can put on the new wheels/tires
    - new uca’s in the future

    sound good @gotoman1969 @Wyckedan @MGMDesertTaco ???

Sounds like a plan. Once all that is done. Take it and get a good alignment. Have the tech set the caster as high as possible while trying to keep the camber as closes to spec as possible. Good luck at school.
