You just reminded me of a kindergarten teacher who had a Dodge Shadow; I went to kindergarten at a private school and did not attend public school until 1st grade. I went to kindergarten in 1994-1995 at a placed called Carefree, which was acquired by another school and renamed not long after we moved away from PA in 1996. It is less than 15 minutes from my current residence and still operating under that same name...

Anyway, my kindergarten teacher (Miss Christy) had a burgundy 1980s Honda Civic that she absolutely hated. It was in decent shape and ran good, but she wanted a Ford Probe (again, this 1994-1995). Miss Christy couldn't afford a Ford Probe at that time. Another teacher named Miss Lia had an early 1990s Ford Escort, and the teacher I am thinking of (whose name I forget) drove a teal green Dodge Shadow 2-door with gray custom wheels and black headlight covers.

Carefree had a 1990-1991ish Ford E350 15-passenger van that all of the teachers were allowed to drive for field trips and stuff, but for whatever reason the Carefree van was out of commission when we went on this field trip to a zoo. It is also possible that there were some kids going on this field trip that not all of the students would fit in the van. The teachers got permission to drive kids in their cars; Miss Lia and the owner of the Shadow were among those teachers, and I ended up in the Shadow. Unfortunately, another kid called shotgun before I could and I had to ride in the back. This was in 1994 or 1995, I think they stopped making the Shadow in 1994. Being the autistic (albeit undiagnosed) car nut I was, I asked the teacher what year the car was, and I seem to remember her telling me it was either a 1992 or a 1993. It definitely was more than a year old, and it could have been a 1989 for all I know (like the red car above). Either way, I thought it was one of the coolest cars I'd ever seen at that time.

I don't remember what zoo or wildlife park we went to, but it required driving through a few inches of water on the way in; I don't know if this was the result of rain or if it was always there, but I can remember driving through the water in the Shadow. It had to have been during the late spring, when it would have been warm around here, and I don't remember being uncomfortable so the A/C must have worked.

It's amazing that Chrysler made thousands of these throwaway cars and now, more than three decades later, they are considered worthy of car shows!

Wonder what engine, my guess is the old Iron Duke.

I believe that the V6 was fuel injected by 1984 (note the badging), but it doesn’t say “V6”, so it probably is the Iron Duke. The Iron Duke was probably the only reliable part of an X-body!

Interesting but close..84 was the last year of the carb V6 in those cars. IIRC my dad's 84 Duke had a fuelie badge somewhere.

Maybe the anomaly, but my dad's ran up to 170 something K. Head gasket let go but damn if that engine didn't still sound pisser.
