Knowing Illustrator helps a bunch. I know what I want to do, it's just finding the way there. Adding the 3rd axis adds a bit of a twist.

I didn't add any fancy sh$t like fillets or chamfers, pretty plain Jane.

Was it actually a cube? Same size in all 3 dimensions?

So, I had shared this file in a CNC group I'm in last year.

Just recently it came up that someone 3D printed it from the DXF I shared so thought I'd post it here for you all to enjoy.

Here's when I cut it out on CNC plasma -

And here's that same design done via 3D printing (credit to the member in the group) -

Printed that piece a few days ago and all was perfect except for 1 dimension, the ID of the tubing. Since I had to alter the CAD file, I beveled the bottom of the piece so any water getting in will drain better. I corrected the CAD file and will re-print tomorrow, along with the 2nd piece. From here, I think I can make copies of these and just edit features to change some dimensions.

    Piece #2:
    Sec1Top v3.png

edit: The bottom (which is the top of the actual piece) has a nice little fillet, just because I wanted to learn. (My brain doesn't hurt enough yet!)

Got both printed today. One measurement was about .005 off still, another about the same, not going to sweat it. A little sanding and the pieces fit like a champ. I have the bottom half of the flagpole assembled. Extended, the 2nd section (of 4) wobble is about 1/2" at the end. Much better than the 1"+ that it moved originally. When you get out to 20', that would be quite the swing.

Ordered some carbon filament, except I didn't pay attention and ordered PLA-CF and not PET-CF, so thats gonna be returned.

Also have some TPU on the way. Gonna try printing some latch covers for my cap because they keep getting water in them and freezing. GoFast has a free file for download that should work.

I was just looking at those! I don’t have a 3D printer but asked a few buddies that do, if they could hook me up.

I printed a test out of PLA and everything fit fine. I'll update once I get my TPU.

Welp, I rearranged my office, moved the printer to a different desk and put it in an enclosure, and now it wont auto-level the bed. Every print I get an error and it skips bed calibration and goes straight to printing. Saw theres new firmware, updated it, and it started printing almost 3mm above the bed. Now I have a -2.95mm z offset. Not sure if it had anything before but I never had to manually set it.

Oh and I ordered the wrong size enclosure. Its about 1 inch too short so I cant close it up.
