Spare tire to match 285/70R17 tires

Hello All,

I recently bought a 22 Tacoma OR and it came with a lift and 17”x9” Fuel Block wheels with Yak Geolanders (285/70R17). The spare is the stock spare tire and wheel. Is there a tire I could mount on the stock spare rim that would work with the 4 main tires I’m running? I’m trying to save money and not get a matching wheel and tire, but I will if that’s what’s necessary.

Keep an eye on FB marketplace for a cheap OEM wheel and then a tire that’s close in size. I bought an OR wheel and mounted a 255/85/16 I was replacing as a spare for my 285/75/16. The wheel I got was $25.

 

Yep, that was kind of my hope is getting something used. There’s a large Tacoma population where I live, so I’m optimistic. I just need to figure out a comparable tire size with that rim.

Looks like the 285/75r16 is the ticket for that factory rim I have!

 

If that’s the case, a 255/85/16 might be a better fit if the spare wheel is smaller width. I also know it fits well in the spare slot once you hammer the ears out some.

I have heard you have to bang the guides. I crawled under the truck and saw that indeed that would be needed.
