Has anyone ever swapped ring and pinion gear with bigger tires? If so did you see a change in power or fuel mileage?

I believe you’re the first one with that idea. Let me do a little bit of research just to check if anyone has asked the question on this forum or online. Keep you posted man.

How much bigger? If you don't go over 33" the stock gears will be fine for most people.

A cornerstone of offroad modification across all brands is re-gearing... try to ask a better question.

Most toyota folks like ECGS since our third members are removable and you can ship them.

I hope your research goes well, but really you should look in any of the tire size threads lots of people record their recipe and experience well.

I went to 4.56 to run 33s it kept my acceleration good and speedometer accurate and met my need. The physics is pretty straightforward though. Do the math and find out what works for the tire size you are thinking. There is no world in which this type of mod results in better mileage.

I tried swapping my ring and pinion gear with bigger tires but now my differential doesn't work anywhere near as well. Also, the ring and pinion swap was a big downgrade in grip and ride quality compared to when I was rolling on rubber.
