Brake Upgrades? What's the best rotor, caliper, pad route? What about drums?

Lifting my truck soon and I wanna upgrade the brakes as much as possible if there's a better option than OEM. I know OEM lasts a while, but if there's better, please let me know.

 

Depending on what your wheels will be there are brackets made to swap LS460 calipers and IS-F rotors in the front. Does usually require 18" wheels to do it though.

 

Ideally thinking I'm going to go with a 16" wheel

 

Best caliber is .45, the lord's caliber.

Definitely can't do the bigger brake upgrade with 16's. Look into pads with some more bite, they'll wear faster but sill stop you better. Possibly upgrade to stainless lines but I don't feel they made much of a difference when I swapped mine over.

 

Gotcha, yeah I wasnt looking for bigger, was just looking for better at the same size if thats even possible lol

In a way, it too is a braking system. It will stop you.

 

LCE has drilled and slotted rotors for our 5 lugs, 300 bucks i think for a pair. and they and they also have a xrunner rear break kit that you can use with a 16 inch wheel. pretty pricey at 1800 if i remember correctly. im not sure if it only fits an x runner or if it fits all 5 lugs? but thats what im planning on doing eventually

 

Not to get into a debate, but you should in fact give the devil his due. 9mm for the win!

 

Different tools for different jobs. 9 is great because it gets most jobs done and is cheap to shoot but if I'm in bear country I'm not confident in it stopping a big black bear.
