Anyone have a decent guess for torque spec on this?

I am swapping the factory nubs (which look like they wouldn't really do anything useful anyway) with some caps.

ETA: I went with 50 lb ft and I think said nubs are apparently radiator crash bars? Seems like they might do more harm in a crash than good.

I just got on it pretty good, being careful not to tweak the plastic too far around. I don’t recall seeing a torque spec- either in the SSO instructions or the tutorial on here.

Alright guys, my slimline seems to have come a tad loose. Anyone else have this issue with there’s? This is about 3.5-4 years after installed.

I also have a smittybilt winch and the control box mounts broke off. After it was installed they rusted out within a year. Box has been slamming around inside ever since. They finally sent me a replacement but I suspect it will happen again. There is a decent gap between the control box and cylinder. I’m considering adding some rubber grommets underneath to help but it wont be long before they bust off again.

I always use some non-permanent (blue) Lock-tite, and have not had any issues with anything coming lose.
The rusting is another matter......but have never had a single warm/fuzzy from any Smittybiilt products if I'm honest.

anyone know how far apart the light bar mounting tabs on the universal 20Inch cutout are? might be same as baja 20 and just the cutout is different
20inch cutout so 21inches apart? 20.5? whats the widest I can fit.
some 20 inch bars are close to 22 inches where others are really 19 and mount is at 20.
trying to get a light bar to arrive same time or before the bumper so I dont have to wait for install.
    SSO closed on the weekends

    thanks

yea those guys are trash and should have just gone with the Warne. Although it’s saved me too many times, it’s been nothing but a headache and dealing with them is as well.

I've had Warn products, and they do make great stuff; but very expensive.

If Im also honest, I picked up a 12,000 lb Badlands Apex winch from Harbor Freight for under $600, and so far I really like it. Several in our local Toyota group have taken the Apexs to Moab and were very impressed. Now, of course I have not had this Apex for very long and maybe in years Ill regret it, but so far its great value for the money.

I might look into that. At this point it’s such a pain to get the control box on/off. It would be easier to pull the damn bumper off and swap out the winch. I have zero reason to believe that smitybiilt would be inclined to send me an updated winch entirely.

My control box sits to the side, not on top of the spool. If I go another route I imagine I’d have some cutting to do if the control box is too mounted.

My S8 came with threaded holes and I see in your pic yours has screws coming out of the mounting holes that you can just throw a nut on and call it a day. Did you do that yourself or did your s8 come like that?
