    Hello TW NorCal,

I am project manager for a small job involving some light metal fabrication, and I am outsourcing the contract for production.

In other words, my Mom said she wanted some help transforming some card-stock models into metal sculptures, and I said "Oh I know some people!"

So, I do not actually "know" people, but I figured maybe some one around here could bail me out.

What is desired is a scale rendering in (plate) metal, cut into the geometric shapes represented in the model, bent accordingly and tacked in place. The cuts should be 'precise' to the eye.
The maximum dimension need not exceed 12".
The actual material can be any plate metal. Cost is a concern, so 'cheap' steel (or anything ferrous) is probably fine. I am thinking of your scrap pieces laying around the shop. Not looking for sheet metal/tin snips.
We are thinking we will leave it in unfinished raw metal, and allowing it to develop a light rust patina. If the stock is already lightly rusted, so much the better.

There is a budget earmarked for the project. I will also say that a local artist metalworker bid the job a $1400, but that seemed like a lot for scope of work. It was way too much for my Mom's budget anyway- which is negotiable, but is more like 1/2 to 1/3 of that...

Let me know if you would be interested in helping out and what sort of compensation would make you comfortable. On top of the (priceless) credit, recognition and adulation of your peers you will automatically receive, of course!

    Cheers,
    -Daniel

These days her primary medium is oils/acrylics on canvas but has also worked in pottery and other media.

    Thanks for the offer!
I have been able to recruit @Kwikvette on to the project, so I am covered.
But thanks again for the offer to help.

Stellar job Nelson! I cannot thank you enough.
My Mom will be thrilled with it!
I think she kind of gave up on it happening, since I mentioned it some time ago..
But good things always take their time. And this will be all the sweeter for it.
    Thank you, my friend!
